Gilbert Keith Chesterton

Gilbert Keith Chesterton was born on the 29th of May in 1874. He was an English writer. Gilbert wrote philosophical novels, poems, plays, fantasy and detective fiction.

Gilbert was born in Campden Hill in Kensington. He was educated at St Paul's School. In 1896 Chesterton began working for the London publisher “Redway”. At first he worked as a literary critic. In 1901 he married Frances Blogg.

Chesterton wrote around 80 books, several hundred poems, some 200 short stories, 4000 essays, and several plays. He was a literary and social critic, historian, playwriter, novelist, and mystery writer.

His most famous book are “Lepanto”, “The wild Knight”, “The Ballad of St. Barbara”.

Chesterton died of congestive heart failure in the morning of the 14th of June 1936.
