Legacy
2006-2007
Dear Friends:
Being a member of the “SAC Family” means we are a part of the
tradition which fulfills students’ educational aspirations. Every
semester, we see the needs of students and programs increase
while the financial resources available to meet those needs
diminish. Through the Foundation, we have the opportunity to
annually contribute toward the success of the college by donating
funds to help create numerous student scholarships and enhance
student support programs.
To continue the legacy of academic excellence, the Santa Ana
College Foundation Board of Directors and I would like to invite you
to participate in the 2006-2007 Faculty and Staff Campaign.
Through your support, the Foundation will be able to purchase
much-needed resources in various departments and programs as
well as assist students in buying textbooks that cost well over $100
each. These are students who could be our future doctors,
engineers, lawyers and nurses.
Please join your colleagues and sign up to participate in this “SAC
Family” fundraiser. Your generosity will help change students’ lives
and give them the opportunity to further their education.
As always, thank you for all that you do on our students’ behalf.
Sincerely,
Erlinda J. Martinez, Ed. D.

Faculty and Staff testimonials . . .
"Several years ago when the Disabled Student Program was looking
for a way to raise money to help the students in the program, the
Foundation came to our rescue. We felt that there was a need for an
emergency scholarship fund for disabled students, but didn’t have the
funds to get started with our fundraiser. We approached the
Foundation about a loan and the rest is history. The Foundation
loaned us money to begin our fundraiser, which is still in place today.
Without the Foundation’s seed money, we would not have been able
to support the disabled student in this way. "

“The Foundation is extremely
successful at making our students
feel like successes when
scholarships are handed out each
spring. I even know some former
recipients of scholarships who have
long graduated and transferred that
now fund their own scholarship
through the Foundation. The
Foundation has also played a crucial
role in helping students in crisis with
temporary loans.”

“The aid from the generous donors was a wonderful tool
that encouraged me to continue with my education
despite numerous struggles. Thanks to the scholarships,
I was able to focus on my studies to a greater extent, and
in so doing I developed the confidence to take up
leadership roles. The aid enabled me to reach my
potential as a student as well as to enrich my academic
experience by having the means to undertake
extracurricular activities. Thank you Santa Ana College for
believing in my potential.”

"Receiving a scholarship enhanced my educational
experience because I did not have to worry about money
issues or transportation. The only thing that was on my
mind were the classes that I had to take in order to transfer
to a university. Thank you so much for helping me in
achieving my educational goal." Jamilah Kapi
“Receiving scholarships from SAC have given me the
incentive to study harder to become a better student. It also
supported me financially, so I had more chance to invest in
my classes. Most importantly, being a recipient of the SAC
Scholarship has helped me built up my confidence to move
on to another challenge at the University of California, Irvine.”
