Re-enrollment for the 2019-2020 opens on
September 1st! Make sure to re-enroll as soon
as possible to avoid delays in your 4-H
communication, participation, etc. All
members are inactive until they re-enroll!
Here are some details to remember when re-enrolling…...
If you have Clover Kids or Discover members (K-3rd grade) they will need to enroll in the Clover Kids sec-
tion of their regular community club. This is how the state tracks Clover Kids (K-3) and it will also prevent
you from being charged the $35.00 enrollment fee. We have created a Clover Kids section for each and every
community club in West Pottawattamie County. If you are a 4th-12th grader you would re-enroll in the
regular community club. Make sure that if you have moved from 3rd to 4th grade this year, you delete the
Clover Kids club and enroll in the regular community club.
We will continue to offer online payments this year. The
payment screen is available right after the invoice screen (for
4th-12th graders). To pay with a credit card, you must enter
your credit card information first for that option to be available.
There is an orange tab that says “add new credit card” Touch-
Net. It will take you to the secured (encrypted) area to
completely enter your credit card. Once your credit card has
been entered in TouchNet, you will be redirected back to 4-H
Online to complete your enrollment. The pay online feature
only appears AFTER you submit your credit card information.
Otherwise, only the “pay by check” option appears.
IMPORTANT: Once you click the “select payment
method” tab you are locked into the pay by check payment
method. It will not allow you to go back and add the credit card later. For those who would rather pay
by check, the club is paying a portion of enrollment, or you qualify for financial aid, please utilize the “pay by
check” option.
Club leaders and adult volunteers don’t forget to enroll! New families will still have to submit paper
enrollment forms to the Extension Office to have a 4-H Online account created for them. The “create a
profile” in 4-H Online is not active for West Pottawattamie County. There is a help sheet to help families with
the re-enrollment process located on your 4-H Online account and at https://
www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/4honline-information-families-and-leaders. Enroll and make sure to submit
your enrollment soon so you don’t miss out on important 4-H information!
OUR VISION A WORLD IN WHICH YOUTH AND ADULTS LEARN, GROW, AND WORK TOGETHER AS CATALYSTS FOR POSTIVE CHANGE
Record Books!
Would you like to earn a certificate, pin or trophy? How about a $200 4-H Explore voucher to use at a 4-H
sponsored camp, conference or workshop? If so, make sure to complete a record book for the 2018-2019
year. It is highly suggested that every member complete a record book as part of their 4-H experience. Not
only can you earn pins, trophies and cash, but it is a great springboard for when it is time to fill out job
applications, scholarship applications and gives you wonderful memories of your 4-H year.
Record books are judged at the club level first, so make sure to check with your club leader to find out when
they are due. We have a record book rubric online at www.extension.iastate.edu/westpottawattamie/4h
that will guide you in the items that the record book should contain. Your record book should include all of
your 4-H involvement from September 2018-August 2019. Remember a record book can be a traditional
format, video, powerpoint, portfolio, scrapbook….anything! Just check the rubric and make sure you have
all the components for judging.
Record book worksheets can be found at the County Extension Office or online at https://
www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/record-keeping.
All members who complete a record book will receive recognition at the 4-H Record Book Awards Banquet
on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo Wild Kingdom Pavilion. The awards program
will be held in conjunction with our “4-H Day at the Zoo” for all enrolled members and their families. The
awards program will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Wild Kingdom Pavilion.
So mark your calendars, check with your club leaders to see when books are due and we hope to see you at
the Awards Program on November 10th.
If you have any questions about record books or need more information, please visit the West
Pottawattamie Extension Office or call us at 712-366-7070. You can also email us at jenvin@iastate.edu.

Record Book covers are available at
the Extension Office for $3.50 each.
Covers are totally optional, but are
available for purchase from the
office for your convenience.
West Pott. 4-H Day at the Zoo!
Make plans to join us on Sunday, November 10th at the Henry Doorly Zoo for West Pott. 4-H Day at the
Zoo. Make sure to enroll (or re-enroll) in 4-H Online to take advantage of this day! We will also be hosting
the annual 4-H Record Book Awards Program in the Wild Kingdom Pavilion Auditorium from 2:00-4:00
p.m. There are limited number of free tickets for 4-H’ers and their immediate family members (those who
complete a record book will receive first dibs on free tickets for the awards program). Make sure to watch
your email (another reason to get re-enrolled early in 4-H Online) on how you can become part of this
event. Don’t forget that enrollment opens September 1st.
All members are welcome to join us for the Awards Program (even if you have not completed a record
book). We plan on having an animal ambassador at 2:00 p.m. with the awards program to follow.
More information will be available soon, but we wanted members to mark it on their calendars and be
looking for how to register for this fun event. Enrolled members and their immediate family (parents/
guardians/siblings) will be eligible and of course, those who complete a record book get first dibs on the
free admission!
