Principal’s Note Welcome back to the newsletter for week 3. What a great first week back we had last week. Students were happy, settled and on task. I was so impressed at how quickly they all settled back into school routines and at how quickly our new Kinders have adapted to the daily school timetable. FANTASTIC! Thank you to those families who have already sent in general permission notes. If you have yet to return them, could you please do so this week. Swimming will take place again on Wednesday and Thursday this week with Mr Boller. Students in years 2 to 6 will be travelling with Mr Boller and myself to Kandos pool for distance training on Thursday after lunch. We will return to school in time for the school bus home. A permission note will go home today. The MSSN swimming carnival will take place next Monday in Mudgee. Full details of the event will be in the permission note which will also go home today. For your younger students who aren’t competing in swimming races, there will be lots of fun filled activities in the toddler pool. A canteen will be in operation all day. Homework starts this week. Please encourage your child to do their homework. It’s a good habit for them to get into in preparation for later years at school and it reinforces what we are learning at school. TEAM Together Everyone Achieves More Caron McDonald (Principal) The week 3 draw from the ‘catch me being good’ slips for this term was made this morning. Congratulations to Elijah Hutchison, Josharra Parr & Kaspar Sander. Elijah receives a $4 voucher for the canteen lunch tomorrow & each student will receive a merit certificate and a milo at lunch. Keep up the great work boys and girls! Hot weather The weather has been very warm lately and we would like to assure you that during extreme hot weather, the students remain indoors in air conditioned rooms. At lunch and recess, a decision is made as to whether it is too warm for students to go outside. If so they remain inside and have access to games, drawing materials and usually a movie is put on the interactive whiteboard too. Students are reminded to wear their hats and sunnies every time they go outside and to drink water regularly throughout the day. If possible, please provide a refillable water bottle for your child to have in the classroom. This saves a lot of disruption when they need a drink. Our ‘student of the week’ this week is Natasha Panschow. Natasha tries hard to follow the rules and helps others to do the same.

PBL

This week our focus continues to be ALL SETTINGS. All settings covers expectations for behaviour in every space in the school in general. Students will dis-cuss the focus on Monday morning and revisit it several times throughout the week. Students are working hard to demonstrate the behaviours of being safe, respectful and responsible by practising the explicit skills below. PBL information for the week is on our noticeboard outside the office alongside the Lue News information.

SAFE RESPECTFUL RESPONSIBLE

Follow the rules Friendly faces Stay in bounds Keep hands & feet to yourself Use ‘no, go, tell’ strategy if feeling unsafe

Follow adult instructions Listen when others are speaking Treat others the way you want to be treated Use an appropriate voice level

Be honest at all times Take care of property Think about consequences Report any problems to a teacher Give your best effort at all times

Junior Class Busy Bee Our Busy Bee for week 3 is Kaspar Sander. Kaspar always has a smile for everyone and is a friendly face in the classroom.
