RESPONSE ABOUT BROAD HAVEN SCHOOL.The school, as we know it, was officially opened in 1963.At the end ofwar the Education Authority had decided to build a new school inBroad Haven but it was not completed until 1963. The children fromBroad Haven were joined by the children from Talbenny and Walwyns
Castle schools (at this time Little Haven children attended, what wasknown as Talbenny School). Mr Ralph Llewellyn was the first headmaster; he had previously been the head of Talbenny School.School ReunionOn July 21stthere was a reunion in the Church Hall Little Haven ofpupils who had attended Talbenny School. One had attended theschool over seventy years ago, many had started in Broad Haven
School 50 years ago.Past pupils who attended the recent reunion.Schools in the HavensThe Havens HistoryGroup has funded a bookthat Mrs June Phillipshas complied andrecently published. The
book traces the ChurchSchools in the Havensfrom the 18th Centuryuntil the new school
opened in1963. The book contains photographs, interesting facts andmemories from pupils who attended the schools, including one froma pupil at the school in the 1920s.The book was officially launched at the recent Welsh Tea, held inLittle Haven Hall.Copies of the book are available from June on 781439, Mr IanNorman 781775, members of theHavens History Group and at theGallery, Little Haven (781910).

GREEN ACRES ANIMAL RESCUE!Green Acres Animal Rescue is based in Talbenny, in the heart of the Havens. Weopened our doors in 2008 after realising there was a growing need inPembrokeshire & the local areas for help for animals in need. The Rescue hasgrown steadily & with the help of our dedicated band of volunteers we have helpedmany dogs cats & quite an assortment of other animals to get their 2nd chance. We
also promote animal welfare, the importance of neutering for example & try & helpwith all aspects of care for pets. We are at the moment bursting at the seams withunwanted cats & kittens,& have a growing waiting list of dogs to come in. As wealways neuter animals that are old enough before re homing our vet bills aresoaring. We also do not put healthy animals to sleep, we care for them until the rightperson comes along, no matter how long that may take. We receive no financialhelp, so we rely on donations & fund raising to help us keep the rescue running.Apart from vet bills we also have to find funds for food, heating, electricity etc. If youwould like to donate to help us help more pets in need, please visit our website
www.greenacresrescue.org.uk where there is a Donation page.Thank you from the Green Acres team!Recent Successes! The recent Open Day at Greenacres raised at massive 4156.47!Morris, the small lurcher pup, had his leg amputated on August 20th and isrecovering well with a forever home lined up already - well done little guy!
