HIGH POWERED ROCKETRY CLUB
AT NC STATE
2019-2020 SPONSORSHIP PACKET
The High-Powered Rocketry Club
at NC State, nicknamed "Tacho
Lycos”, is a 50 member
engineering team focused on
learning and growing as a group
in our love of rocketry. The club
strives to include all
concentrations pertinent to
spaceflight, including aerospace,
mechanical, and electrical
engineering as well as material
and computer sciences. Our 4 main goals for the 2019-2020 school year are to improve our
competition performance, grow our community through outreach, involve and educate
underclassmen, and create a safe and fun environment for all engineering minds. Tacho
Lycos works year-round, not only to expand our own knowledge and experience, but also to
reach out to the community and inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists.
Your sponsorship will expand the horizons of Tacho
Lycos by allowing us to build, test, and launch more
successful and ambitious rockets. Our team is a group
of passionate and driven students who want to get
plenty of hands-on experience that will prepare us to
enter the workforce and become the next generation of
innovators and explorers. As a sponsor of The High-
Powered Rocketry Club at NC State, you will gain
visibility throughout NC State University, our local
community, and nationally at competition. Sponsorship
funds will go towards materials, tools, and hardware for
projects such as NASA Student Launch Initiative,
outreach, and supplemental/experimental launches.
WHY SPONSOR
ABOUT
US
This year Tacho Lycos will be celebrating a
decade of participation in NASA's Student
Launch Competition. The team has always
been a standout competitor since the
beginning, winning Rookie of the Year for the
2009-10 competition and growing to be the
inaugural first place winner of the Centennial
Challenge Mars Ascent Vehicle Prize in 2015.
Our hard work in competition also earned us
the Altitude Award in the 2018-2019
Competition, reaching an apogee only 12 feet
from our altitude goal.
The 2020 NASA Student Launch challenge is to
create a payload that will deploy and collect simulated lunar ice samples. Our team hopes to
build an award-winning rocket and payload rover this year, as well as using this challenge to
learn and grow in our knowledge of rocketry.
