Increasing Sales in Household Paper Category

• Understand where the opportunity exists to capitalize on sales according to our monthly category sales report.

• Develop a strategy to push sales and meet customer demand.

• Collect data on sales vs LY (%), use inventory ordering tools to remain in-stock, and achieve positive sales growth vs LY.

Objective:

• Store manager observed the potential the household department had to capture more sales.

• Holding power of household paper department was limited and capturing additional sales of popular paper products was also limited.

Solution:

Change the planogram.

Solution:

By changing planogram, we also increased holding

power of “fast movers,” and popular

sale items in household department.

Solution:

• Add bulk displays along front of store; especially along “high traffic” aisle.

• This would help capture customer’s attention on household paper sales for the week.

Category Sales Report Monthly & YTD

• Began implementing this strategy in May. Results show flat, increase, and a decrease in sales compared to LY.

• We will continue to push the bulk displays to capture customer attention down the “high traffic” aisle.

• We will continue to monitor our ordering and have enough product on hand for customer demand.

• Look forward to continue to push sales and have a positive trend vs LY.
