Looks can be deceiving(Pages 5-10)
-Fluorescein angiography shows less florid leakage 2 days after intravitreal injection of VEGF in rabbit compared to one week after injection (page 5). Similar results can be shown by fluorescein channel (Page 6). -40KDa channel (page 8) shows leakage at day 2 and no leakage at 1 week. This indicates that at day 2 post VEGF injection, the BRB is more permeable to 40 KDa particles than at one week. Which suggests a more severe BRB dysfunction-This in turn suggests the presence of a discrepancy between the qualitative assessment of fluorescein angiography leakage (based on area of distribution and intensity of color) and permeability to macromolecules.
-FA leakage grading may not be directly correlated to BRB status. -PCA may provide new information about BRB dysfunction not provided by FA

“to some journey… to some a destination…”
-PCA shows different patterns of flows for different components. -Smaller particles (400 Da and 10 KDa) go through an arterial phase, neovascular membrane (NVM phase) followed by leakage and with no venous phase. (pages 12, 13)-40 Kda particles (page 14) travel from artery followed by a venous & NVM (almost simultaneously) phase and no leakage.-70 Kda particles (page 15) show an arterial phase followed by a venous phase and delayed staining of the NVM.
