Page layout and Design(InDesign)

Emily Pinder

Step by step• I created this test of a magazine

on InDesign to get a feel for how to use the software. Firstly, after opening InDesign, I opened a new document that was A4 size. I then went to layout and added a grid by creating guides that are 4 by 4.

Step by step• I then used the rectangle frame tool to

draw boxes within the guides. I use the dimensions of theses boxes to create a page size in Photoshop. I collected a range of images of Paris from the internet and edited/resized them in Photoshop to the right size of the boxes and added a range of filters. I also used two different sizes boxes. I then saved these as a JPEG before going back to InDesign to place them on the selected box.

• I did not quite fill my page as I had one row left. With more time I would have finished the page.

Magazine front cover • This is my first attempt at

creating a magazine cover and I am very pleased with it. I feel it fits into the rock genre very well with the use of dark colours and sharp text. I also like the contrast between the softer, curly font of the title and the other more bold text. I have kept the cover quite minimalist with the use of one large image to fill the background and small amounts of text to let the reader know what is in the magazine.
