Extruded PolystyreneInsulation

Description

Insul-Drain is a FOAMULAR extrudedpolystyrene product that incorporatesthe features of insulation, drainage andprotection board in a single product. It’s easy to install, without the need forspecial tools or equipment, and theproduct’s superior compressivestrength and long-term moistureresistance properties mean years ofreliable performance on below gradefoundation walls even under extremelyharsh conditions.

Features and Benefits

• Precision-cut channels drain water from vertical foundation walls whilecompleting total insulation envelope.

• Durable filtration fabric prevents soilfrom clogging channels.

• 48" x 84" and 48" x 96" sizes cover more square footage faster and minimizes joints between boards.

• Acts as protection course for waterproofing membrane.

• Tongue & groove edges provide proper board alignment and helps seal joints.

• Top-edge horizontal channel permitsunobstructed water flow between vertical courses of boards.

• High R-value (see table at right), exceptional moisture resistance and high compressive strength of FOAMULAR extruded polystyrene insulation.

• UL Classified foam core meets ASTMC578 Type IV specifications.

Product Installation

1. Insul-Drain is installed againstexterior below grade foundation walls.Insul-Drain can be installed directlyover waterproofing or dampproofingmembranes provided that themembrane is properly cured.

2. Insul-Drain boards should beinstalled vertically with the fabric sideaway from the horizontal wall. Align

the 4 ft. dimension along the horizontalwall and place the edge flush along acorner of the wall. Insul-Drain shouldbe installed so as to extend verticallyfrom the top of the footing to severalinches below finished grade. Properlysized gravel fill should be installed atleast one foot above the bottom edgeof the board. The fabric overhang alongthe bottom of the board should betucked underneath to the backside ofthe board. Should the project requireless than a full size 7 or 8 ft. long board, excess should be trimmed from thebottom of the board leaving a 3-inchfabric tab to tuck underneath.

3. A bead of compatible adhesive shouldbe applied along the entire top edge ofInsul-Drain to secure top fabricoverhang and prevent soil penetrationinto the drainage channels.
