BETTER READ THAN DEAD BOOK CLUB will kick off 2020 with DeliaOwens' bestseller Where The Crawdads Sing, an exquisite ode to the naturalworld, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possiblemurder. BOOK CLUB ONE: January’s book selection is Then We Took Berlin, by JohnLawton. The New York Times Book Review describes the novel as a stylish spythriller told in the midst of harrowing descriptions of life in the battered nationsof Europe in 1945 and the war that never seemed to end. Book Club One willmeet on January 16th (our customary third Thursday of the month) at 2:00pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. BRIDGE GROUP is open to both men and women; a basic knowledge ofbridge is the only thing needed. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM: Have you ever wondered what happens whenpriests and ministers operate outside a church setting? Rev. Kirk LaFon, theUniversity Chaplain, will talk to us about his role as a chaplain at Ole Miss. Hehas served as a school chaplain from Pre-K all the way up to the college level.In fact, he became a priest so that he could serve in academic settings. Rev.LaFon will discuss what ordained ministry looks like in non-parochial, academicsettings.
