“Jesus Nailed Our Sins To The Cross”by Pastor Fee Soliven

Colossians 2:11-15Wednesday Night

July 31, 2013

11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without

hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised

Him from the dead.

13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together

with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the

cross.

15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of

them, triumphing over them in it.

11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

Genesis 17:9-11, 149 And God said to Abraham: "As for you,

you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their

generations. 10 This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and

you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be

circumcised; 11 and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins,

and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you. 14 " And the

uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin,

that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant."

Deuteronomy 10:16"Therefore circumcise the foreskin of

your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer"

Jeremiah 4:4"Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, And take away the foreskins of your hearts, You men of Judah and inhabitants of

Jerusalem, Lest My fury come forth like fire, And burn so that no one can quench

it, Because of the evil of your doings."

Ezekiel 44:6-76 Now say to the rebellious, to the house

of Israel, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "O house of Israel, let us have no more of all your abominations. 7 When you brought in foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and

uncircumcised in flesh, to be in My sanctuary to defile it--My house--and

when you offered My food, the fat and the blood, then they broke My covenant

because of all your abominations.

Romans 2:29   (New Living Translation)A true believer is one whose heart is right

with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks

praise* from God, not from people.

12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised

Him from the dead.

Romans 6:4-74 Therefore we were buried with Him

through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the

glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we

have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in

the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done

away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has

been freed from sin.

13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together

with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

Ephesians 2:1-101 And you He made alive, who were dead

in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of

this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works

in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted

ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind,

and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. 4 But God, who is rich in

mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were

dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have

been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly

places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in

Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of

yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of

works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the

cross.

1 Peter 2:21-2521 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an

example, that you should follow His steps:22 "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; 23 who, when

He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten,

but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins

in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for

righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going

astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of

them, triumphing over them in it.

(1) demonic powers, (2) the gods of the powerful nations, (3) the government of Rome, or even (4) angels (highly regarded by the heretical teachers)

1 John 3:7-87 Little children, let no one deceive you.

He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He

who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the

works of the devil.
