Kurds Kurds are people native to the Middle East with a distinct identity

They inhabit a region known as Kurdistan: includes parts of Iran, Iraq, Syria & Turkey.

After the collapse of Ottoman Empire in World War-I, the Treaty of Sevres implied formation of a separate Kurdish nation.

However Kurdistan was divided between Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey & Armenia

Being ethnical minorities in all the countries they live, Kurds were subjected to torture where ever they lived.

The struggle for an independent Kurdistan still continues…

Genocidal campaign mainly against the minorities by Saddam Hussein

Headed by Ali Hassan (Chemical Ali).

Main targets were Kurds.

Attack extended to Assyrians, Shabaks, Yazidis, Jews, Mandeans

Planned when the entire world media was focusing on the final stages of Iran-Iraq War.

182,000 Kurds were killed using chemical warfare
