Fantastic beasts will come to life in this adventurous class. In the second week, you will visit the Public Museum of Grand Rapids to discover preserved bones and animals on display. How many kinds of dragons can you think of? How many dragons can you name? For millennia, dragons were featured in the art and mythologies of cultures from around the world. Step-by-step tutorials are provided for many styles of dragons — cartoon, baby, European, Chinese, cute, fierce, active, and more. You may have thought about the future of your education, but what about the future of your creativity? Pre-College Portfolio Class enables you to:
• View your creativity from new perspectives • Understand what today’s college entrance

new media• Produce creative works• Learn about art and design careers
You’ll be guided in your portfolio creation experience through a curated offering of art and design skill-building projects, like drawing (sketching, figure drawing, charcoal drawing), sketching (concept ideation), painting, printmaking, jewelry making, architecture/interior design (sketching, learning about floor plans and materials), anime drawing and story writing, character drawing/illustration, furniture making (template making), and photography. Three of these experiences will be offered in the 10 week session. The final session will offer you the opportunity to “hang your own art show” and display works you’ve created throughout the course. You’ll also have the opportunity review your current work and set goals for your future. Instructors: Full-time KCAD program faculty

13-18NEW! PREPARATORY MURAL DESIGN
Murals, typically found on walls and ceilings, date back to the Upper Paleolithic era with cave paintings and can be found through out all other eras of human history. These murals were used as a way to tell stories or display political, social, and religious values. No matter their intent, murals impact their surrounding community. In this class you will have the opportunity to design a “mural” on large paper and be taught all the techniques for transferring the imagery you design later to a wall or permanent surface. Best practices for obtaining a mural site will also be discussed. Instructor: Bryley Deneen

Drop Off and Pick Up of Youth
All youth must be dropped off at the 17 Pearl St. NW, Woodbridge N. Ferris Building and accompanied into the building by an adult. Parents are required to identify themselves to the instructor or a staff member and to sign out all youth ages 12 and younger when they return to pick them up.
