In Spanish, there are 2 ways to say "to be":
* SER
* ESTAR
You've already learned to use forms of SER to introduce yourselfand say where people are from:

ESTAR is another verb that means "to be“. however it is used indifferent situations than SER.
One of the uses of ESTAR that you have already seen is to ask howSomeone is:

ESTAR is also used to say where people and things are at.

Just like the verb SER, the verb ESTAR has 6 different forms, each tomatch a different subject.

El verbo ESTAR
The verb ESTAR is often used with prepositions to say where something located in relation to something else.
La computadora está encima del escritorio.
The computer is on top of the desk.
La planta está delante de la ventana.
The plant is in front of the window.
La papelera está al lado del escritorio.
The wastebasket is next to the desk.
