What is the preterite?

• The preterite is used to tell what happened or what you did.

• The preterite describes a past action that is over and done with.

Remember that we’re going to learn a formula that can be applied to any regular verbs that you want to conjugate in the preterite.

How to form the preterite of regular verbs

1.Take off the infinitive ending to get your stem

2.Add the preterite endings

Circle the preterite ending in each sentence. Then write the subject of the verb on the line

to the right of the sentence.
