The Humble ISD Dual Language Program is hosting meetings to highlight the benefits of giving children the gift of a second language. Parents of children starting kin-dergarten in Humble ISD for the 2016-2017 school year are invited to attend on Thursday, March 3 at 8 a.m. (meeting and tour) and 6 p.m. (meeting only) OR on Thursday, March 10 at 8 a.m. (parent tour only) at Hum-ble Elementary School, 20252 Fieldtree Drive. There will be refreshments, door prizes, and free child care for the 6 p.m. meeting only. The Dual Language Program teaches Spanish and English to native and non-native speakers of English in a mixed group setting through literacy in the core content areas and adheres to the 50/50 model, which provides 50 per-cent of instruction in Spanish and 50 percent of instruc-tion in English. The Carrico family decided to enroll their daughter, Ken-nedy, in the Humble Elementary Dual Language Program “so that she would get exposure to other cultures and learn a language that I couldn’t teach her at home,” said Mandy Carrico. “We’re hoping by the time she graduates from the program in fifth grade that she’ll be ready for advanced Spanish courses.” Learn what to do NOW to give your child the gift of a sec-ond language. Dear Parents,
On March 5, 2016, Fall Creek Elementary PTO is hosting our 7th annual Spring Fundraiser – Cirque du CARDINALE! For those of you who have never attended this event, it is a great way to support our school and have a great night out too. To purchase tickets and to find out more event details such as suggested dress, please visit the PTO website at www.fcpto.com. Be sure to check out the online catalog of all items in the auctions.
Your tickets get you into the Cirque CARDINALE event, music and some fabulous Cirque inspired perfor-mances. All proceeds from the fundraiser go towards providing unique cultural experiences for our children, academic enrichment equipment such as updated technology and literacy libraries for the classrooms, as well as outdoor equipment.
Some of the items in this year’s auction include jewelry, sports memorabilia & tickets, gift certificates to restaurants, museums, retail stores, spas and so much more. It’s not too late to donate auction items or to become a sponsor for the event.
This year, the PTO is offering a mobile bidding option for the Cirque Cardinale fundraiser. If you can’t make it to the event, you can purchase a mobile bidding ticket for $25 and bid on the same items in the silent auction from anywhere. Information on this can be found on the PTO website.
On behalf of the PTO, thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you on March 5th at the Golf Club of Houston!

Don’t forget! Your students are learning about a heart healthy lifestyle through the American Heart As-
sociation’s Jump Rope for Heart program!
We kicked off Jump Rope for Heart in P.E a few weeks ago and our school’s event is right around the cor-
ner! There is still time for your student to participate if they have not done so yet! You have probably heard
your students talking about the lifesaver puppies, so we wanted to fill you in and remind you how your student
can earn them! Each pup has an important heart health message and YOUR student can earn all six of their
very own lifesaver puppies! They can get the first three puppies at school now, the remaining puppies
and thank you gifts will come 2-3 weeks after Jump Rope for Heart is complete.
HERE’S HOW YOUR AWESOME KID CAN BECOME A HEART HERO! 1. By learning how to take care of your own heart. We’re learning from the puppies this year!
2. By telling the grown-ups in their life what we are learning about our hearts.
3. By raising funds to support the American Heart Association’s mission of building a life free of cardiovas-
cular diseases and stroke.
To bring home SUPER PUP, NINJA STAR and MARTIAN N. MUTLEY
Go online at www.heart.org/jumpto sign up, or do it from your smart phone by downloading the app
Jump/Hoops. (The new app is amazing – you can even text for donations!)
Our goal this year for Fall Creek is $20,000!
If we reach our $20,000 goal then Coach Arnett, Coach Edmonds & Coach Marion
will dress up in dog costumes and sit in a dog house on the stage during all of the
lunches.
If we reach $25,000 then the coaches will also ride tricycles around the school as
our mode of transportation for the day.
Help Fall Creek Elementary continue to be the #1 school in all of Humble ISD for
Jump Rope for Heart in 2016!
We also wanted to share that your student is using educational materials provided by the American
Heart Association to teach about HOW and WHY students need to take care of their hearts as a part of
Jump Rope for Heart. Students will also be raising funds to help others whose hearts aren’t as healthy.
In addition we can earn P.E. equipment for our program! Students will be jumping rope to celebrate all
of the heart healthy learning and giving they have done.
