About Me---------My name is Marcus Connor, I’m from Guildford and I’m fresh out of education and trying to establish myself as a designer and illustrator. I love to work with others to support them, work with them to solve problems and develop solutions. I’m a well rounded designer and illustrator, I have used my time in education to teach myself as much as I could about a wide variety of skills and techniques. I enjoy helping and supporting those around me and believe it builds a healthy environment to do so.
I’m so excited to get out there and prove what I can do and continue to expand my experience in the design community.
I have had the privilege to have my work featured in People of Print and had my work requested to be in Erik Brandt’s Ficciones Typograpfika multiple times.

Extra-----So I’ve had a pretty wide range of experiences, I was selected to go to America for a student exchange programme, which I was chosen for and spent a semester at MCAD.
After this I was fortunate to go on Fraiser Muggeridge’s Typography Summer School in 2013 which was a fantastic opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience.
Recently I spent six weeks in a print studio learning how a large format printing environment operates. I was given a wide range of challenging tasks for prepping files for print and running multiple printers simultaneously.

Graduate Show Branding-----------------------A live brief about the graduate show came up and I was given the opportunity to work with two others from my year group. Our aim was to show a new contemporary and unreal/real edge to the branding and try something that hadn’t been done before in the history of the shows branding.

Banners
These 3 banners will eventually be part of a set of 6. The imagery for the banners will be crops from the posters rather than the full image. This works better as a composition and gives a sneak peak of something bigger.

Lecture Posters---------------Every week we were given the opportunity to design and brand the poster for the guest lecturer. We were given limitations depending on the techniques we could use and there was an emphasis on utilising who the guest lecturer was to add to the design of the poster.

Typography Summer School--------------------------Attending Fraiser Muggeridge’s Typography Summer School I was assigned a live brief of rebranding the bookshop known as ‘X Marks the Bökship. I responded to brief in the most simple way I could do. It was designed to look like a Google Maps pin literally marking the bookshop and flag with the logo would hang from that.

Predicting The Future--------------------This I started noticing the amount of people would complain that movies such as Back to the Future II predicted hover boards and other things. This is a response to those who predicted the future and how it created a culture of people waiting for the future to happen. The final illustrations were screen printed.

Illustration----------This is a selection of illustrations I have done in my spare time mostly due to me coming across an idea and wanting to see it come to life. It also has given me time to keep my skills sharp and experiment with new techniques.

Photography------------My use of photography stems from my interest in the intricacies of how cameras work and the science behind darkroom developing and printing.
