Data Quality

Addressing Data Quality:Drop Out Rate and

Cohort Graduation Rate

18

Drop Out Rate: The Past

•Entered by school districts•The ability to locate students limited•Duplicate dropouts in the system in the same year and over multiple years

19

Drop Out Rate: The Present

•Drop out pre-populated – districts able to find reentered dropouts across the state • The ability to remove duplicate dropouts in the same year across districts and only count the student once as a dropout in a four year period for the cohort •Only the last school accountable in the graduation rate

20

Drop Out Rate: The Future

•Better reporting•Possible links with other states to assist in finding dropouts •Possible links with Higher Ed to see if/when how dropouts fare

21

Dropout Rate

School District Reporting Site

The Wave’s Portal

• Prepopulated – Less Data Entry/Cleaner Data• Assistance in finding Dropouts

Cohort Graduation Rate

• The five-year implementation plan will cover the graduation cohorts of 2012 (entering 9th graders in 2008-09) through 2016 (entering 9th graders in 2012-13).

25

2010-11 graduates (aggregate counts) + 12th grade dropouts (2010-11) + 11th grade dropouts (2009-10)+ 10th grade dropouts (2008-09)+ 9th grade dropouts (2007-08)
