● Bigger tells Buddy to stay quiet about the big amount of money that fell out of his pocket.

● Bigger tries to justify the murder he committed by blaming the whites.

Event 4

● Bigger puts coal in the furnace to burn Mary's body.

Event 5

● Peggy becomes suspicious and starts to ask questions.

Event 6

● Bessie and Bigger come together to plan for a ransom note to get money from the Daltons. Bessie does not know about Bigger's crime.

Event 7● Bigger believes that his family the whites and

Bessie are now all “blind.”

Event 8● The Daltons have hired a private investigator,

Britten.

Event 9● Britten suspects of Bigger. He is racist.

Event 10● Britten accuses Bigger for being a communist.

Event 11● Jan is arrested for being a suspect in Marys

dissapearance.

Event 12● The Daltons get the ransom note for $10,000 and is

signed “Red”

Event 13● Bigger admits to Bessie he murdered Mary.

Event 14● The reporters discover Marys ashes because of the

residue bones; Bigger escapes with Bessie.

Event 15● The police are looking for Bigger and have

searched 1,000 negro homes.
