What is the MGF?The State of Michigan’s digital base map which contains most commonly needed themes to conduct state business.The MGF houses the LRS to link MDOT tabular business data to the geographic location.

What is a Steward?A Steward is a local authority who collects and maintains official

information for their area. The Steward acts as a liaison to receive and disseminate data amongst Information Owners.

What is an Information Owner?An Information Owner is the local authority on information in their

area of interest.

Why create a Stewardship in your area?Information flow becomes more effective.

Partnership Policy

All partnerships must have pre-approved work plan before work will beginFuture work plans must follow the standards and guidelines of the MGF

No full-scale repositioningSpot repositioning acceptable where accuracy does not meet MGF standard

No centerline data will be accepted in place of the current MGF linework

May use for transfer of attribution, new road additions, and spot repositioning, if warranted
