I’m Outta Here

Mike Darby & The House of Cards

Mike Darby and the House of Cards Band

started in 2007, playing gigs in a small New

Orleans bar called Check-Point Charlie on

Saturdays.

Checkpoint Charlie501 Esplanade Ave.

New Orleans

Since they didn't come on until at least until 2 a.m., locals referred to this madness as "Darby till Dawn" or "Sunday School with Reverend Mike Darby."

Playing these late night gigs turned out to be a big plus in the band's

development.

"There was a lot of freedom playin' at Checks, and we had time to get our chops up and work out the songs."

drummer Tony Frickey

The House of Cards includes Mike Darby with CaryB (vocals/bass) ….

and Nervous Duane (bass sax),

with Clarence “Trixzey” Slaughter on alto saxophone, and brother William

Slaughter playing trumpet.

Whether they’re playing at Checks, the Apple Barrel on Frenchmen or anywhere else in the Big Easy, Mike Darby and the House of

Cards are always a crowd favorite.

“Their mix of hard rock, blues and traditional New Orleans jazz has established Mike Darby and the House of Cards as one of the Crescent City's favorite bar bands.”
