It is more important to focus on how the message is
designed rather than how it is developed.
The message developed to transform a person will either
succeed or fail based on how well it has been designed.

students, and are sharing this list as a suggestion of tools that may be helpful to you.
Slides/Presentations
Power PointWhat is Power Point:
• Power Point is a function from Microsoft. It allows the user to create professional presentations with graphics and text.
Props of Power Point
• Free with Microsoft Office
• Easy to use
• Videos and sound can be embedded into Power Point presentations
• Pictures are easy to add
• Charts can be added to presentations
• Animation can be added to presentations
• Presentations can be resaved as a pdf and emailed to students
Challenges of Power Point
• Video and sound is not accessible when printed
• Must buy Microsoft
Prezi
Pros of Prezi:
• It breaks the mold – don’t have to do linear, slide-by-slide presentations
• It’s web-based (especially helpful for those who don’t have Office suite) and can be mobile optimized
• Interactivity – link text and images to movement that becomes part of the presentation
• Designed for all ages
Challenges of Prezi:
• Too much movement
• Learning curve
• Web-based
• Free version limits what you have access to

Recording Presentations
Pros of Panopto:
• Record lectures and presentation discussions which can be played back later
• Live stream lectures/workshops
• Videos can be broken down into segments and watched out of order
• Helps implement a flipped classroom (can be used to watch videos before appointments)
• If using slides, will automatically index video segments
Challenges of Panopto:
• Learning a new tool
• Variation in campus technology
• Storing videos
• Recreating videos if not timeless
• Changing student culture to use this resource

Pros of Kaltura:
• Easy to use and start recording
• Captures screen well (you select what to actually be recording)
• Can add video of you speaking with screen capture
• Embeds easily into Blackboard
Challenges of Kaltura:
• Video clarity can be a bit off, especially only capturing part of the screen
• Editing tools are not very user friendly
• Slow upload speed
Animation Presentations
What is Powtoon? www.powtoon.com
Pros of Powtoon & Raw Shorts:
• Two great tools that allow users to create short eye catching animated videos and presentations
• Basic animated videos under 5 minutes are FREE
• Fun way to get info to students
• Large cartoon library to choose from and ability to upload pictures
• Ready made templates to create a high quality quick videos
• Premium accounts available for a fixed monthly fee
• Online tutorials and easy to edit available video templates
• Easily sharable on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, via email, etc.
Challenges of Powtoon & Raw Shorts:
• May take a few hours to complete your first Powtoonwith audio and cartoons
• Raw Short export credits expire after 6 months
• Animated charts are not part of the free packages
• Cannot call the PowToon Support Team
• Kept receiving multiple unexpected errors on the website my first time creating a PowToon and was told to reboot the webpage several times
• Some Raw Short templates have animation that is not part of the free package option

Support Tools for Recording and Animation
What is Audacity? www.audacity.com
Audacity is a free, open source, cross-platform audio software for multi-track recording and editing. This tool can assist you with making your recording as professional as possible. To learn more about Audacity, visit their website.
What is Voice Bunny? www.voicebunny.com
VoiceBunny is a good tool to utilize if you do not wish to use your voice for your PowToon or Raw Short. You can hire a professional voice actor to record the script for your PowToon or Raw Short. Voice Bunny can also match you up with a professional voice translator if you need to have your PowToon or Raw Short in a second language. Price quotes are available per project. • It is a tool that must be purchased by your institution

• Easy to Use/Set Up Unique or Recurring Room
• Easy login for students (can use guest link)
• Lots of variety in how to set up the room
• Lots of tools to increase student engagement (polls, breakout sessions, individual and group discussions)
• Record sessions and send video to students within a couple of hours
• Add guest presenters as moderators or just presenters
Challenges of Collaborate:
• School has to use Blackboard (added on feature)
• Screenshare is glitchy
• Limited in slides that you can show (won’t do animations)
• Moderator has to be logged in for session to begin

• If you change the password for a social media account, you must also update the password and reconnect the tool to the social media management tool
