MUNICIPAL VISION
Naihati Municipality has been working for the improvement of Physical
and Social infrastructure with due consideration for economically weaker
inhabitants. This improvement includes strengthening of transportation
facilities, development of drainage facilities, providing a platform for jobless
young generation by giving an opportunity of some Professional Training,
providing secured shelter for homeless peoples as well as a good market
complex for road side hawkers. Municipality will also give a special emphasize
for education facility of poor childrens , save the green environment to make a
pollution free environment and development of greenery and enhancement of
overall beautification of the city etc. This will enable the citizens across the
sectors of the society to be healthy, knowledgeable and economically self-
sufficient. The municipality aims to acquire its goals through mobilization of
local and other resources, efficiency, better citizen interface and organizational
development.

Dear Municipal Citizens,
At first I would like to wish you all better luck and hope all of you are in
good health condition and enjoy the ongoing winter season. With the collaboration of all of you
and with the hard endeavour of all Municipal Employees & respective Ward Councillors,
Municipality is approaching towards better improvement in different sectors under its
jurisdiction. From the beginning, Municipality always try to give an effort for poor inhabitants
to give a better facility in various Municipal services and also raise the hand for poor children in
education field. This year we have tried our best to give more extra benefits for Municipal
citizens in various ways, such as-
(A) At present, two most important projects are running under this ULB. One is the Atal
Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and other is Housing For All
(HFA) Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojona (PMAY). We have already submitted the Service
Level Improvement Plan (SLIP) in previous year in five sectors Under AMRUT. But initially
Central Govt. wanted SLIP in two sectors, such as Water Supply and Park Development. Total
191.50 Cr. is fixed for augmentation of water supply system under whole Municipal area which
was checked and fixed by Municipal Engineering Directorate (Govt. of West Bengal).

Subsequently an amount of Rs. 30 lakhs was approved by Municipal Affairs Deptt. (Govt.
of West Bengal) of vide memo no. - 26/MA/AMRUT/P-2/2015, Dated- 10.12.2015 for the
improvement of parks. Total five nos. parks are approved in this financial year 2015-16. We
have already submitted the technical vetted scheme along with Detail Project Report of the
said five nos. parks after getting the technical sanction of the schemes from MED, North 24
pgs. Division-I, Barasat. We will improve Chaighat park, National Park, Samaresh Basu Udyan,
Subhasgarh Park and Malancha Road Park at the different wards under this Municipality. We
will immediately commence the proposed improvement works of parks after receiving required
fund.
We have submitted DPR to the Municipal Engineering Directorate (Govt. of West Bengal)
for Housing For All Project to improve the existing poor house in Slum and Non Slum area. Total
1062 nos. beneficiary in which 940 nos. beneficiaries are selected from 15 nos. Slum and 122
nos. beneficiaries are selected from Non Slum Area in this financial year. An Amount of Rs.
3908.16 Lakhs has been approved for improvement of 1062 nos. Dwelling Units and an amount of
Rs. 390.82 Lakhs has been approved for Infrastructure Development of selected slum and non
slum area. So total Rs. 4298.98 Lakhs has been sanctioned in Housing For All Project for this
current financial year.
(B) Except AMRUT & HFA, Municipality also started some major projects at the present
time. One is the Hawker’s Market complex for rehabilitation of the of the Aurobinda Road side
hawkers at ward no. - 28. The said road side hawkers will get a good platform for their business
purpose after successful implementation of the proposed project. The Technical Vetting of
Hawker’s Market has been done by Chief Engineer of MED (HQ) (Govt. of West Bengal). Hon’ble
MP, Shri Dinesh Trivedi & Hon’ble MLA, Shri Partha Bhowmick was present at the inauguration
programme of the proposed project of Hawker’s Market on 31st January, 2016.
Along with Hawker’s Market, the second project is Bus Terminus which is located at the
side of K.D. Road in ward no. - 11. The Technical Vetting of proposed Bus Terminus has been
done by Chief Engineer of Transportation Deptt. (Govt. of West Bengal). Three components of
bus terminus such as Boundary Wall, RCC Drain and RCC Rigid Pavement have been sanctioned in
this financial year. Total 34 nos. buses can still stay at the same time. Hon’ble Chief Minister of
West Bengal inaugurated the proposed project on 28th January, 2016.

A Footbridge is also a proposed project in this year which is starting from Swapnabithi
Park to Ramghat of approx 2 km. Length. This proposed Footbridge will constructed at the bank
of river Ganga with Bow Girder. People can enjoy the decency of river Ganga and enjoy pollution
free fresh air after completion of this project. Now survey work is in progress for this project.
Improvement of Storm Water Drainage facility is one of the major work for this
Municipality as the existing drainage condition of this ULB is too much poor. This project
includes the change of existing drain by enhancing its section and capacity where it is required
along with construction of Treatment Plant to remove the harmful substances from storm
water and disposed off to the natural water course. At present survey work is in progress for
this project.
(C) We have already improved our Maternity Hospital to a Super speciality Hospital with
some modern necessary equipments and by providing some important health services to citizens.
We have provided Colour Doppler, CT Scan Machine and Digital X-Ray Machine for the citizens
and providing several services such as Dialysis facility, ICU and Eye Section for Patients. Lift
core is being constructed for the advantage of admitted patients and as well as existing
Maternity Hospital is connected with ICU Building (erstwhile Godhuli) by a Steel Connector. In
future, Municipality will try to give better and modern services to the citizens.

Finally, we deeply mourn and express our condolence for the sudden demise of our Ex
President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The immortal personality whose valuable thinking and
activities will always be remembered and his expensive excerpt will deeply influenced to the all
citizens of India.
