Bonded lap joints were manufactured and tested under static and fatigue loading. Specimens were designed to fail in thebondline, and all fatigue tests included monitoring the, crack growth to failure. NASA CR-2207, Cyclic Debonding QfAdhesive Joints: Summary Report provides background information and a general summary of the data obtained. Thisreport lists detailed crack length readings for the 106 fatigue specimens involved.

SUMMARY
This report presents detailed test results from an experimental investigation into thefailure of adhesive bondlines and advanced-composite matrix materials subjected to fatigueloading. The data include 18 static control specimens and 106 fatigue specimens. Crackgrowth was monitored to failure for all of the fatigue tests. Additional information can befound in NASA CR-2207, Cyclic Debonding of Adhesive Joints: Summary Report (ref. 1).

EXPERIMENTAL TEST PROGRAM
The experimental test program plan is shown in table 3. Two static tests were requiredfor each configuration plus three fatigue tests at each of three or four load levels. The statictests were included to verify specimen quality and to establish ultimate failure load andmode. In all fatigue tests crack growth was monitored to failure. Fatigue test loads werechosen to provide specimen lives in the range of 104 to 105 cycles.
The specimen used in all of the fatigue tests and half of the static tests is shown infigure 1. It consisted of a simple lap splice requiring complete load transfer from theadherend through the bondline to the splice plate. Some static specimens were tested in a610 mm (24 in.) long full-dogbone configuration. The difference in configuration was notbelieved to have influenced test results.

TEST RESULTS
Static Tests
Static test results are summarized in table 4. The static specimens were identified by analphanumeric character consisting of the configuration number followed by the letter "S"and a number to designate replicate specimens. For example:

Results are summarized in terms of ultimate load and the maximum gross area tensilestress in the adherend (assuming no contribution for bending). With one exception, all statictest specimens failed cohesively. After partial cohesive debonding, specimen 9-S2 failed inthe boron-epoxy splice plate.
Fatigue Tests
The following pages contain individual test specimen logs for all 106 fatigue specimens.All of these specimens were tested with the configuration shown in figure 1, and all exceptfive resulted in cohesive debond failure. These five specimens exhibited partial cohesivedebonding but eventually resulted in adherend or splice plate failure.
The fatigue specimens were identified by an alphanumeric character as shown below:

The number of days between cure and test is shown on the log sheet for eachspecimen. Adherepd, splice plate, and adhesive thickness readings represent averages foreach configuration. The debond length readings represent an average of the readings takenon each edge of the specimen. The debond rate data shown on the logs were derived from asimple Aa/AN calculation.
