I Bet You Didn’t Know That… Adults, age 18-29, comprise the largest

group of social media users Facebook is the most popular social

media site, with over two-thirds of internet users reporting they are on the site

Twitter Percentage of internet users on Twitter

has doubled since 2010 More popular among people living in

cities More popular among African-Americans

and Hispanics (26% and 19%) Some of you may even be live-tweeting

this as we speak…

Pinterest More popular among women than men

(15% of women; 5% of men internet-users on the site)

More popular among white people than African-Americans or Hispanics

Also more popular among higher income brackets ($50K-$75K and more than $75K)

Instagram More popular among women than men More popular among African-Americans

and Hispanics

Conclusion: Social Media Strategy Serves as a portal to our collections, not

a substitute for them Will not solve all of our outreach

problems Need to actually promote our social

media accounts so that people will know about them
