COURSE OBJECTIVES

Instruction in achieving conscious sedation in dentistry using:• Nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation

• Oral sedation

Course content includes a review of:• Conscious sedation

• Monitoring

• RCDSO guidelines

• Nitrous oxide equipment

• Pharmacology & administration technique

• Respiratory physiology

Each participant will get experience in the clinical application of nitrousoxide/oxygen sedation.

Please Note: The course on Medical Emergencies on February 8 is a prerequisite to the course on Nitrous Oxide and Oral Sedation.

Successful completion of this certificate course, which includes prior readingassignments and multiple-choice tests, qualifies dentists to use nitrous oxidesedation and oral sedation.

LECTURERDr. Michelle Tang Dr. Tang is AssistantProfessor in theDiscipline of DentalAnaesthesia at theUniversity of Toronto,Faculty of Dentistry. She has taught localanaesthesia and nitrousoxide/oxygen at theUniversity of BritishColumbia, Faculty of Dentistry. Apart fromacademics, Dr. Tang practices as a dentalanesthesiologist in a private clinic in Kitchener, Ontario.
