The present map shows basic topographic features such as Transport Nerwork , Hy drology ,Industry , Population, Phy siography and Topony ms in the area of Ny ala, S outh Darfur (S udan).These basic topographic features are derived from public datasets, refined by means of visualinterpretation of W orldview-2 image of 20/11/2013.All the images have been georeferenced using R PCs files and the Aster GDEM,radiometrically enhanced and mosaiced.The estimated geometric accuracy of the image is 5 m CE90 and the geometric accuracy ofthe vector data complies with J R C requirements for 1:5.000 cartography, as it is based onvisual interpretation of recognizable items onvery high resolution optical imagery .Only the area enclosed by the updated Area of Interest has been analy zed.Map produced on 14/06/2013 by Indra S istemas S .A. under contract 257219 with theEuropean Commission. The products elaborated in the framework of current mapping in non-rush mode activation arerealized to the best of our ability, within a very short time frame during a crisis, optimising theavailable data and information. All geographic information has limitations due to scale,resolution, date and interpretation of the original data sources. The products are compliant withGIO-EMS non-rush Product Portfolio specifications.

The core user of the map is International Committee of the R ed Cross, Genève (S witzerland).The potential additional users of the map are humanitarian aid operators.The purpose of the requested analy sis is to map the informal and formal settlements and thenon-residential city structures of the city of NY ALA to derive population estimates andpopulation densities per sector to facilitate the planning and estimation of the needs for anurban water network .PLEAS E NOTE: the population figures are derived from the digitized residential building block sand from the percentage of built-up in each block . The number of building structures perhousehold and the average number of people per household can help deriving these figures.
