These sensors have been destroyed by abrasion or damaged by

SteelFace sensors can take the punishment
Balluffs SteelFace 2X inductive sensors are
affordable, rugged sensors that are designed

times longer than plastic faced sensors. Theyalso provide up to twice the sensing range of

This standard sensor was no match for the abusive welding
environment. Continuous weld cycles and cleaning processes have
deteriorated the face and exposed the coil. This causes sensor failure,
increased sensor costs, weld cell down-time, and loss of production.
SteelFace 2X with PTFE coating is designed for the welding
environment. In this weld cell, its face and body show little effect from
the welding and cleaning process. Its superior construction lasts
longer, which reduces maintenance costs and increases profitability.

SteelFace 3X sensors are available in quasi-
flush and non-flush models. For repetitiveimpact areas, the quasi-flush models can be
flush mounted for added protection, with a
reduction in sensing range. All models also
have a minimal sensing range reduction
when detecting non-ferrous materials such

Many sensing applications require a rugged
housing that is target-material selective. For
example, the ability to detect a steel target
but ignore machined aluminum chips is
required in many automotive engine blockand head manufacturing lines. Conversely,
on steel camshaft and iron crankshaft
lines, it may also be necessary to sense an
aluminum target but ignore steel and iron
filings that might accumulate around the
sensing face.
SteelFace 1X Fe/ NFeFerrous or non-ferrous detection for high-impact areas
SteelFace 1X ferrous/non-ferrous inductive
sensors fit this need. Available with either
Ferrous or Non-Ferrous metal detection,
SteelFace 1X Fe/NFe sensors provide the
flexibility to detect specific metal targets whileincurring incidental impact and abuse directly
on the sensing face. SteelFace 1X Fe/NFe
are also fully flush-mountable for added
protection from impact, and are offered in
both DC 3-Wire and AC/DC 2-Wire + GND
configurations.
