Prayer of ConfessionLavon Baylor

We confess, O God, that we are not eager to wrestle with you or to take responsibility for sin in our lives. We see ourselves as basically decent, respectable people.

Yet we have bent your commandments to our own conveniences. We listen only to the word we want to hear. We participate in the greed that is destroying your good earth, and we allow evil to triumph through our neglect.

Shake us into awareness that brings change, and support us, we pray,

on the difficult path toward greater faithfulness.

Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness Lavon Baylor

Our self-disclosing God proclaims: “I will forgive your iniquity and remember your sin no more. I will be your God and you will be my people. I will put my law within you; I will write it on your hearts.” Give thanks for the new life God offers, attuned to eternal values.

Prayer of the Day

O Lord God, tireless guardian of your people, you are alwaysready to hear our cries. Teachus to rely day and night on your care. Inspire us to seek your enduring justice for all this suffering world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Amen.

CHILDREN'S MESSAGE

Strong Enough to Save

by Philip LaRue

You fought but you were just too weak, So you lost all the things you try to keep, Now you're on your knees, you're on your knees, But wait, everything can change, in a moments time, you don't have to be afraid, cause fear is just a lie, open up your eyes

And he'll break open the stars to save those who cry out his name, the One the wind and waves obey, He's strong enough to save you

Look now is not too late lift up your head let the rain fall on your face you’re not far from grace, you’re not too far from grace

And he'll break open the stars to save those who cry out his name, The One the wind and waves obey is strong enough to save you

Break open the stars to save,

those who cry out his name the One the wind and waves obey is strong enough to save you

I know the weight of this world can take you down like gravity yeah, I know the current of yourself can take you out, out to sea but hold on, hold on

And he'll break open the skies to save those who cry out his name the One the wind and waves obey He's strong enough to save you

Break open the skies to save those who cry out his name the One the wind and waves obey He's strong enough to save you

Benediction

River of Fire

(Stewart Townend)

Who paints the skies into glorious day?

Only the splendor of Jesus Who breaths his life

into fists of clay? Only the splendor of Jesus

Who shapes the valleys And brings the rain?

Only the splendor of Jesus Who makes the desert to live

again? Only the splendor of Jesus

Teach every nation His marvelous ways

Each generation shall sing His praise

He is wonderful He is glorious

Clothed in righteousness Full of tenderness

Come and worship him He is the prince of life

He will cleanse our hearts In his river of fire

Who hears the cry of the barren one?

Only the mercy of Jesus Who breaks the curse of

the heart of stone? Only the mercy of Jesus

Who storms the prison and sets men free?

Only the mercy of Jesus Purchasing souls for eternity?

Only the mercy of Jesus

Teach every nation His marvelous ways

Each generation shall sing His praise

He is wonderful He is glorious

Clothed in righteousness Full of tenderness

Come and worship him He is the prince of light

He will cleanse our hearts In his river of fire

He is wonderful He is glorious

Clothed in righteousness Full of tenderness

Come and worship him He is the prince of light

He will cleanse our hearts In his river of fire

- Jesus Calls Us; O'er the Tumult

Hymn #696 ELW

Jesus calls us; o'er the tumult

of our life's wild, restless sea,

day by day his clear voice sounding,

saying, "Christian, follow me"

As of old Saint Andrew heard it by the Galilean lake, turned from home and toil and kindred,

leaving all for Jesus' sake.

Jesus calls us from the worship

of the vain world's golden store,

from each idol that would keep us, saying, "Christian,

love me more.

In our joys and in our sorrows,

days of toil and hours of ease, still he calls,

in cares and pleasures, "Christian, love me

more than these."

Jesus calls us! By your mercy,

Savior, may us hear your call,

give our hearts to your obedience,

serve and love you best of all.

Amen

Lift Every Voice and Sing

Hymn 841

Lift ev'ry voice and singtill earth and heaven ring,ring with the harmonies of liberty.

Let our rejoicing risehigh as the list'ning skies;let it resound loud as the rolling sea.

Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us;

sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;facing the rising sunof our new day begun,let us march on, till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,bitter the chast'ning rod,felt in the days when hope unborn had died;

yet, with a steady beat,have not our weary feetcome to the place forwhich our parents sighed?

We have come over a way that with tears has been watered;

we have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,

out from the gloomy past,till now we stand at lastwhere the white gleam ofour bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,God of our silent tears,thou who hast broughtus thus far on the way;

thou who hast by thy mightled us into the light;keep us forever in the path, we pray.

Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met thee;

lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget thee;

shadowed beneath thy handmay we forever stand,true to our God, true to our native land.

Gospel Song

All Are WelcomeHymn #641 ELW

Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live,

a place where saints and children tell how hearts learn to forgive.

Built of hopes and dreams and visions, rock of faith and vault of grace;

here the love of Christ shall end divisions

All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where prophets speak, and words are strong and true,

where all God's children dare to seek to dream God's reign anew.

Here the cross shall stand as witness and as symbol of God's grace;

here as one we claim the faith of Jesus:

All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where love is found in water, wine and wheat:

a banquet hall on holy ground where peace and justice meet.

Here the love of God through Jesus, is revealed in time and space;

as we share in Christ the feast that frees us

All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where hands will reach beyond the wood and stone to heal and strengthen, serve and

teach, and live the Word they've known. Here the outcast and the stranger

bear the image of God's face; let us bring an end to fear and danger:

All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Let us build a house where all are named, their songs and visions heardand loved and treasured, taught and claimed as words within the Word. Built of tears and cries and laughter,prayers of faith and songs of grace, let this house proclaim from floor to

rafter:

All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Blessing and Benediction

Lead On, O King Eternal!

#805 ELW

Lead on, O King eternal! The day of march has come;

henceforth in fields of conquest

your tents will be our home. Through days of preparation your grace has made us strong;

and now, O King eternal,

we lift our battle song.

Lead on, O King eternal, till sin's fierce war shall cease,

and holiness shall whisper the sweet amen of peace;

for not with swords loud clashing,

nor roll of stirring drums, but deeds of love and mercy the heav'nly kingdom comes.

Lead on, O King eternal: we follow, not with fears,

for gladness breaks like morning

where'er your face appears. Your cross is lifted o'er us;

we journey in its light; the crown awaits the conquest;

lead on, O God of might! Amen
