In type 1 diabetes, the body's immune system destroys the cells that release insulin. Without insulin, cells cannot absorb glucose, which they need to produce energy

. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the pancreas doesn't make enough insulin.

It cannot be prevented. It can be prevented with maintaining a Healthy diet and exercising regularly.
