1st Big Science Business Forum Webinar COVID-19: Impact and measures on the Big Science market
CDTI, E.P.E.
BSBF2021 is a business oriented congress, focused on technology and
with the aim to be the main meeting point between Research
Infrastructures and industry. This will be the second edition of the event
after the success of the previous edition in Copenhagen, where more
than 1.000 delegates from more than 500 organisations and 29
countries gathered together to discuss the future prospects of the Big
Science Market.
In BSBF2021, we expect more that 1.200 delegates, mainly from
European businesses and organisations planning to engage in the Big
Science Market with a reference total procurement budget expected of
38.400 M€ in the period 2020-2024 from the Big Science
Organisations members of BSBF2021.

BSBF2021 is hosted by the CDTI, Spanish innovation agency and ILO of many
European Big Science Organizations, belonging to the Ministry of Science and
Innovation.
The conference is co-organised by the European Big Science organisations: F4E,
CERN, EMBL, ESRF, ESS, ESO, ESA, ILL, European XFEL, FAIR, SKA; and the
collaboration of PERIIA, the Pan-European Network of Industry Liaison Officers.

BSBF2021 will take place on 28 September – 1 October 2021
in Granada, which is one of the most science-oriented cities in
Spain, and also Europe’s single candidate to host IFMIF-DONES,
a key research infrastructure in the fusion roadmap.
The city of Granada enjoys one of Spain's most important cultural
and architectural patrimonies, a rich cultural life with lots of
interesting sightseeing and an extraordinary culinary scene.

• The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe (FAIR) and Square Kilometre Array
(SKA) is on board to engage with European industry in new Big Science challenges.
• A special SME Track will put European small and medium enterprises in the forefront as
key stakeholders for business opportunities with European Big Science organisations in the
coming years. For more information on how to take part, contact your local ILO.
• A complete Technology Transfer Track, supported by a special technology transfer
programme of meetings and posters, will be open for participation to research

Impact of COVID-19 and Way Forward
• Covid does not allow to celebrate a BSBF in the way it was foreseen
• BSBF has been moved to 2021 in order to avoid any unnecessary health risks for the participants
• New dates: week of September 28th, 2021
• Payments for booths and tickets will be offered to be reimbursed or remain valid for the new edition
• BSBF-2021 will has the same programme and under the same conditions, but would be adapted to the circumstances as they evolve during this year and 2021 if needed.

Impact of COVID-19 and Way Forward
• A new safety and security plan will be elaborated in line with the requirements derived from Covid.
• The goal will be to keep the BSBF brand as a the biggest public forum of all European Big Scientific facilities in terms of industrial content.
• Two webinars planned in 2020:
– Webinar June: Big Science Organisations measures for the COVID-19
– Webinar October: Big Science Organisations strategic plans and 2020 procurements and projects
• More in 2020 and 2021 will be organized
