Presentation boards, brief

transcript

A brand identity based on author, scholar, translator, activist, and past teacher, Jack Zipes. Identifying the main problem at hand was the unorganisation and confusion surrounding the distribution of information involving Zipes.

In addition, his newly written fairy tale, ‘The Waitress’, was in demand of a design. Moving away from conventional book and magazine structures and merging small details from the two in one typographical experiment was a large part of the Zipes pro-ject.

Having found a host of diverse information on Zipes from dif-ferent sources - specifically the internet - the branding was solely based on research.

The CV, letterheads, and website kept a visual consistency throughout. This was important in allowing Zipes to have a dis-tinct quality to his appearance. The main reasoning of the web-site was to provide information and news conveniently whilst being able to sell peronal work to fans of his writing.

Business card breaking away from the norm with the interactive model of a makeshift bookmark. Using the same design princi-ples as the other branding assets, the consistency still surfaces.

‘Jack Zipes’ stands slightly higher within the format from the original business card dimensions so as to sanction visibility when physically used as a bookmark.

A typographic investigation into the fairy tale, ‘The Waitress’. Exploring the different stages within the short story, the design plays on little hints of type, pin pointing intricate and subtle details.

The boxes are an element taken from magazine layout, wherby images are usually boxed off in a distinct fashion. This element was a useful tool in utilising alongside the type and manipulat-ing to reflect the content.
