• The f irst documentary attestation of Buzau is f rom 372, Apri l 12, in a Papal Document “ The Passion of Saint Sava the Goth”, chased and drowned in the waters of r iver Musaios (Buzeos – Buzau) . This document is kept in the Vatican Library and also , in the San Marco Library from Venice .

The economical wealth of this region had determined the building, in the 4th century, of a Camp of the Eastern Roman Empire.

History Objectives

•From the same period dates the Thesaurus from Pietroasa, the most eloquent test imony of the civi l ization reached by the inhabitants of this part of the world.•Was discovered in 1837 in the ruins of a Roman castrum. •Was the biggest thesaurus from all the world, approx. 40 kg gold.•The thesaurus contains 26 pieces , from dacic and vizigot period.

The Monteoru Culture, from the Bronze Age (sec. II i .Hr) , can be considered the development nucleus of this culture in the whole Europe.In Cârlomanesti – Niscov, in the place of a former Dacian Fortress , many statues , of an important artist ic value, have been discovered, between them remarkable is : "The Dacian wolf with wild boar fangs" , representing the Dacian Totem.

•Having a strategic posit ion Buzau, was also a defense center against the Turks, tartars and others . The fortresses from Bradu and Berca are proofs of the local res istance .

• Buzau became in 1500 the center of the Bishopric from this region and a cultural center, because of the printing house, s ingers ’ school , icon painters ’ school , seminars .

• From the same period dates rupestrial complex from Alunis s i Bozioru, made of cel ls , church, stone crosses, stone galleries .
