Patrick PEREZ, Directeur
Dear Friends of the Institut Français du Nigeria,
This programme for the three months to come is rich in celebrations:
- Women's rights International Day nt to be missed in our annual calendar- The two weeks long Francophonie festival with the support of all the Embassies which represent French speaking countries in Nigeria.
Together, we want to share our enthusiasm and to allow you to discover the news about franco-nigerian cooperation as well as a panorama of our different activities.
It is also the occasion to remember the wonderful events which closed 2014 with a “Fête de la Musique” that was rescheduled in December instead of June due to heavy rains and you enjoyed it!
Yes, our events will cater for different tastes and perspectives! Come along and be surprised! The Institut français du Nigeria team is expecting you!

Next December, France will have the honor to welcome and to chair a major conference on the climate change: The COP 21, also called “Paris 2015”.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, adopted in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, was ratified by 196 countries in 1994. They are the “parties” of the Convention. The Conference of the parties (COP) has a meeting every year during international conferences where decisions are taken to fight against climate change. The Conference organized in Paris will be the 21st, hence its name “COP 21”.It's a crucial stage, because we expect a new international agreement applicable to all the countries, with the aim to maintain the global warming below 2°C. Consequently, France will have a role of importance on the international stage to bring closer the points of view and to facilitate the UN consensus, like in the European Union which has an important role for the negotiations on the climate. The Embassy of France in Nigeria and the French Institute of Nigeria are working on this universal theme and they will offer some activities regarding the protection of the environment during 2015.

The Social Development Fund (SDF) is a program of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development which is implemented by the Embassy of France in Nigeria in order to support development projects and capacity building at the grassroot level. The SDF 2013-2015 is funding and assisting technically 9 grassroot partners in 10 States nationwide. BEYOND ALL ODDSIn all spheres of existence, humanity is faced with challenges which severely test the resilience of the human spirit. In confronting these existential issues, man has relied on his ingenuity, resourcefulness, innovative and improvisational abilities, as survivalist modes. For the artist, these attributes can be creatively applied, using the different channels of artistic media, to address issues, as well as experiences that highlight the resilience of the human spirit to adapt to changes; move beyond all odds, and meaningfully appraise the past, positively engage the present and lay a better foundation for tomorrow.
All artists not more than 35 years of age as at October 24th 2015, residing and studying/working in Nigeria for at least 5 years are eligible to participate.
for submission of entries: June 30, 2015.
