There is lots of excitement brewing for our
Stitching Sisters Machine Embroidery event this
October. Eileen Roache is the founder and editor of
Designs in Machine Embroidery magazine. She has
designed and developed embroidery tools, as well
as written machine embroidery books. Her sister,
Marie Zino, is an embroidery designer specializing
in the children's area. We have filled about half of
the spots already, so don't wait to much longer to
sign up. If you haven't done machine embroidery
and want to see if it's for you, this is a great way to
test the waters. Embroidery machines, all supplies,
and lunch is provided for you for the two day event.
Our staff enjoys getting together for sewing and fun.
Our annual staff retreat is June 19-21. We will be
closed these days.
Summer appears to finally be on its way. With all
the summer activities we decided to scale back on
classes. All of our monthly get together's will
continue throughout the summer. Join us for Create
with Embroidery, Jacobean Journey Stitching, Demo
& Dessert, Floriani Software, Youth Sewing, PhD,
and Stitcher's Society. Be sure to watch our emails
for additional happenings.
I have heard some rumblings that there is sewing
going on over the summer. We have a few kits left
for Connections (Batik block of the month) and
Simpler Times (30's block of the month). Our
Jacobean Journey embroidery block of the month is
starting to take shape. Stop by the shop and view this
gorgeous quilt. It's not too late to get started on it.
The Hoopsister's mystery quilt sign up begins
June 1. I have been busy stitching up the "secret"
blocks. I will début the blocks for week 1 on June 2.
I think this is their best mystery quilt yet! You have
until June 30th to register for $89.00, after that the
cost will be $240.00. Sign up at
www.hoopsisters.com and list Rae-Bon as your
dealer. If you have any trouble, come in and I can
help you.
June 2 also brings the start of our first holiday block
of the month. "Home for the Holidays Strip-it BOM"
is only a 6 month program and uses preprinted
stripe layout fabric. Best of all, although this is
presented as a holiday quilt, the color palette, print
motifs, and overall quilt design lend themselves
easily to pre and post holiday decor. The program
includes patterns and fabric for quilt top and binding.
Pay monthly at $24.95 or a onetime fee of $130.00.
We will be holding two sessions of "Summer
Sewing for Kids.” Two projects will be made over
the course of the two days: a tote with a fold over
flap and a fun & flirty gathered skirt. The projects
will be cut and kitted for you to start sewing. Bring
your own sewing machine and we will supply fabric,
thread, and pattern. If you have a youth that would
like to try their hand at sewing, but you are not ready
to invest in a sewing machine, we have a limited
number of classroom machines for use. Register
