0077 Section 25.2 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

requires that employers “provide information,instruction, and supervision to a worker to protect thehealth and safety of the worker.”

✓ FALL PROTECTION: Training is mandatory forworkers that may be exposed to a fall hazard. Thefall hazard can be as little as 2.4 metres (8 feet).This includes guardrail installation.

✓ CONFINED SPACE ENTRY: Workers exposed to aconfined space (see the Construction Regulation forthe definition) must be trained before beingallowed to enter the space. Examples of confinedspaces include maintenance holes, tanks, and vaults.

✓ PROPANE: For torches, heaters, and otherapplications of propane you must be trained by atrainer registered with the Technical Standards andSafety Authority (TSSA).

✓ EXPLOSIVE ACTUATED TOOLS: Training on safeoperation is mandatory. Refer to the manufacturerof the device for information on training.

✓ WHMIS: Training on the Workplace HazardousMaterials Information System (WHMIS) ismandatory.
