To reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS and facilitate access to health care for injecting drug users and their families.

Prison Therapeutic Community To provide treatment and legal advocacy to incarcerated drug users and prevent HIV transmission in the prison population.

• Medical care and treatment referrals

• Group and 1-1 counseling sessions

• Education, Yoga, & meditation workshops

• HIV/AIDS awareness

• Legal intervention and prison staff training

Detoxification Camps To provide a structured environment where clients taper off

OST and develop their plans for staying drug free.

• Tapering off minimum OST dose within 3 days

• Medical assistance • Post-camp follow-up plans• HIV/AIDS Prevention

Education • Peer educator training

Project Nivara (Shelter) To provide critical care and medical advocacy to street-

based drug users.

• Treat infections and abscesses• Palliative care for HIV+ clients • Refer critical patients for hospitalization• Motivate to return home

Project HunarTo give drug users the skills they need in order to earn

small amounts of income; and to empower them to transition into mainstream society.

• Visual recognition English learning programme 

• Computer programme and typing education

• Medical clinic, nutrition, and residential care 

• Exercise, yoga, and meditation sessions

• 1-1 and group counseling

Success Stories Abdul-Migrated from Bangalore, lost an arm and a leg in a train accident, now a peer trainer for Hunar and a teacher for income generation projects
