Sedimentary rocks

By: Felipe Amber

Here are some examples of a sedimentary rock

The first example is the sandstone - sandstone is sand grains cemented together into a solid stone

The second example is siltstone : siltstone is made from silt partials cemented together

The last sedimentary rock is breccia : Breccia is made up of angular pebbles cemented together.

Sedimentary rocks are made from : Weathering: weathering is the breaking down of a rock Erosion : the movement of sediments Deposition : where eroded sediments end up Sediments : pieces of weathered rock Compacted : one sediment are squished together to form

sedimentary rock Cemented : when sediments are glued together

crystallization to form sedimentary rock Fossils : fossils are the preserved remains

Fun Facts About Sedimentary Rocks Sediments can harden into sedimentary rock in lots of

ways. pressure-As layer after layer of sediments are deposited,

the lower layers are pressed together under the weight of the layers.

Earth's surface is constantly being eroded. It means that rocks are broken up into very small pieces by weathering agents such as wind, water, and ice.
