Jenkinson’sfly-inlastmonthwasaterrificgath-eringofarealcrosssectionofourgroup.Wehadlong-timemembers,newmembers,andfriendsyoungandoldwehadn’tseeninquiteawhile.TheyoungShoregrandchildrenarenotsoyounganymore.Geneproudlyreports theyrange inage fromcollege tofirstgrade.Hardtobelievethebabyisinfirstgrade.Interestinghowchildrengrowupsoquickly,butittakesalotlongerformetogetolder... Theflightlinewasquitevaried,too.Capturingmyattentionfirstthingwasthe170,whichinyearspasthasbeeninthehangar,butthisyeartookitsplacefrontandcenteroutside,sparklinginthesunshine.Jackmadesurethenosewastothewind,asthosebigwingswerepayingcloseattentiontothewindasitcameup.Wereallywereblessedwithabeautifuldaytogather. It was quite fun to see the big smile onBillAnton’spassenger’sfaceastheydeparted.KrisWag-ner,12,isbecomingquitearegularatourfly-ins,andsubmittedsomeofhisfavoritephotoshetookforFLYPAPER.Youcanseethemonpage5.Thankyou,Kris!Ibetwe’llseeKrisattheLiberalAirShowonSaturday.Ihopeyoudon’tmissthisfreeevent;thereisallkindsoffunaviationactivities,includingYoungEaglerides,scheduled.YoungEaglepilotsarescheduledtoarriveat9:30,flyingkidsshortlyafter.Theairportclosestoairtrafficat12:30whentheairshowbegins.Itisscheduledtobecloseduntil3:30pm,but that time issubject tochange.Bringthefamily,bringtheneighbors,justmakesureyoushowup! F . Y . I .Chapter 377 normally meets on the second Saturday of each month. “Meetings” are normally fly-ins to different member airports, with a potluck at noon and short meeting following. December is the Club Christmas Party. Contact any of the officers listed to confirm meeting date and place. Anyone interested in recreational flying or building is encouraged to attend.

FLY PAPER is published monthly, normally mailed a week before each meeting/fly-in.

FROM MITCHELL PARR—Texas Jet had a hangarcollapsein87mphwindsonSundaynightandwearestartingtoseesomeofthedamagedplanesshowup.Thesearetwodifferentairplanes.TheoneisaBeechBaronwithholespunchedinit.Itwillneedseveralfus-alageskinpanelsmostlikelyallnewwindowsanewde-icebooton the tail.Theflapswillneed tobe re-skined,andlotsofotherlittlestuff.Ourfirstguessasfarasthecostofrepairsisover$100KTheBonanzawiththerudderandverticalsmashedwillbeconsider-ablycheapersincethatlookslikethatisthemajorityofthedamage.Theengineonthebonanzawillhavetobetorndownforapropstrikeinspectionsinceitwassmashedupagainstsomehangarpieces.Weshouldsee somemore damaged planes today as they getthemuncovered.TherewasaCessna340thatwasinthemiddleofthehangarthatsomehowescapedwithnodamage.ItwastheoneIputtheengineonwhenIwasinGC,N340F.IbelievetheownersnameisMikeGaston.

Clear skies, low windandmoderatetemperaturesmadeforexcellentflyingconditions.Folksfromtownstartedliningupjustafter6:30AMandthefirstaircraftarrival,aVansRV-8AfromWichitaKS,wasaround7:15AM.AcoupleofNavionsfrom theTulsa areamade a formation fly-by beforelanding.Therewasasteadystreamofguestsarriv-ingviaaircraftandland-basedvehiclesthroughoutthemorning.Theservinglinewasn’tshutdownuntilafter10:15AM.AfterreviewingthephotosthatItook,atotalof63aircrafthadflown in for thebreakfast,andourcashiersaidwehadserved506breakfasts.

Gettingtothe“bigshow”wasa littledifferentformethisyear.Whilepre-flightingtheRV3,I foundthatassoonasIturnedonthefuelpump,Ihadfuelrunningoutof thefuselage. Isoonfoundthe leak inoneofthefuellines.Nothavingthetimetorepairit,IhoppedintoourT-birdandheadedforDodge.ImustsaythattheBeachBoyssoundmuchbetteroverthesoundsystemofthelittleBirdthanthewalkmaninmyRV3!SonDanhadtheSwiftallpolishedupandreadytogo. MitchCounceagreed to tagalong inhisRV-9A.Iknowthathehadtopullthepowerbacksothathewouldn’tleaveus.WestoppedinMontecello,IowaforfuelandsawBillandMarcAntonflyingtheirbeauti-fulRV-8.Danthought thatbecauseofallmyexperi-ence(twentytwotripstoOshkosh),Imightbeofsomehelp toMitchflying intoOshkosh.Littledidheknowthat I never could find those darn railroad tracks atRipon.Mitchwaskindenoughtotakemealonginhisplane.OnceIwascomfortablystrappedintothe9A,Ihadtwoimmediateobservations.Thereisnotasingleroundgaugeonhisinstrumentpanel.Itseemedtomethatyouhadtobecomputersavvytoflythe9-A.Also,ithasheatedseatsjustlikethelittleT-bird. Thetowergaveus36Randthen,afterbeinglinedupontheright,gaveus36L.Mitchwastoldtolandonthenumbersandthenwastoldtolandonthepurplecircle.HewasverycoolandsettheRVdownonthepurplecircleperfectly.Afterwewereparkedouton thenorth forty,witha fewhundredmoreRV’s, itwastimeformetoputmyyearsofexperiencetowork.IremovedallthebugsontheRV-9Ainrecordbreakingtime.
