Time Management – Why Important?

• Some facts!– Both Winners and Losers have same 24hrs in a

day!– It’s NOT about number of hours, if about

efficiency!– There is a difference between Planning Schedules

and Time Management!• “Management” includes ability to change work plan

based on new contingencies. It’s a continuous process..• In today competitive world balance “Professional Vs.

Personal Life” is required..Enhancing Careers, Enabling Success …..With FUN!

LIVE “Time Mgmt.” Game

• Divide the students into Groups• 1 Police Group - 6 members (To work with

Trainers)• 5 to 8 – “Pirate Groups”. Each group

containing 5 members• Each Pirate Group – 1 Captain and Name for

Responsibility of “Police”

• Within the perimeter of premises of College – Each Police will “HIDE” a Treasure.

• He will list 4 clues about the position in a Paper

• The “Hint” list will be given to trainer to be distributed to “Pirates”

Steps for “PIRATES”

What will “Pirates” do?

• Step 1:– Group has to discuss how to use “15 mins” time-

limit for treasure• Step 2:– Group has to spend 10 mins discussing the HINTs– Group needs to have “Action Plan”

• Step 3:– Proceed on finding “Treasure”

Objective of Hunt!

• Team with Best “Timing” and “time Management” wins the activity..

Outcomes…

• Analysis– Time Allocation– Is the “5 Mins” of HINTS discussion used properly?– What were the reasons for “Confusion”– Completed Task “Within” Time limit?– Where can “Pirates” improve the TIME SAVING

Key Points on TM..

• Time Management is NOT “Following Clock”, its about “Competing” with clock!

• During most events “Priorities” will change – In the middle of events. So how do I change my action plan?

• How important is “Action Plan” in time management

Sample Action Plan ….1. Spend 2 Mins on “Objectives of Treasure Hunt”2. Allocating activities based on strengths of each

team member

3. Spend 5 minutes on “Hints”4. Shortlist 4 “Destinations” that fit the shortlist

5. Send 4 people on “Search”6. Let 1 Captain and 1 Central Co-ordinator stay-back

to give continuous communication to all..
