Recently, the FacebookCOO is teaming up withDonorsChoose to giveback to public schoolsacross the country as partof the #BestSchoolDaycampaign.The#BestSchoolDaycampaign is a nationalfundraising movement,ensuring that studentshave the appropriateresources, opportunitiesand supplies to foster asuccessful environmentwithin the classroom.
Sandberg has teamedup with the CharlesBest, the founder and
CEO ofDonorsChoose.org tofind the passion thatdrives students toexcel, while also
finding the necessarymeans to cultivate theiracademic potential.
Given her extensive philanthropic track record, theFacebook COO still strives to improve the public
education system across the country as shestrongly believes this is the foundational elementfor children to excel. “Education is everything.
When children get the high quality education theydeserve, it opens up a lifetime of choice and
opportunity,” she said.
Sandberg has continued mark herself not onlyas a leading female professional in the techindustry, but also as a leading figure who has
consistently shown generosity similar towealthy charity advocates such as Warren
Buffett and Bill Gates. In 2012 alone, she giftedmore than 400,000 Facebook stock to a
disclosed charitable cause, further reaffirmingefforts similar to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
She has also signed the Giving Pledge, in which shewill donate a majority of her acquired wealth in the
tech industry to charitable causes such aseducation, global health and poverty. Movingforward as a primary force in Facebook’s
development, Sandberg has been instrumental interms of challenging and advancing the tech giant’scharitable vision as the company further grows in
the social media market.
