The scope of social responsibility in Islam•The individual

members of society should work together

•Embraces all the needs of the society and its members

•Extends to humanity•Mutual responsibility

Ten Commandments• Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah

hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him;

• be good to your parents; • kill not your children on a plea of want;-

We provide sustenance for you and for them;-

• come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret;

• take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.

• And come not nigh to the orphan's property, except to improve it, until he attain the age of full strength;

• give measure and weight with (full) justice;- no burden do We place on any soul, but that which it can bear;-

• whenever ye speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned;

• and fulfill the covenant of Allah. thus doth He command you, that ye may remember.

Joining partners with Allah• Not only limited to

worshipping stones or idols physically

• Shirk is also when you follow your lower self

• Shirk is not forgiven unless you repent in this life

Parents’ Rights Allah Ta'ala Says, "Your

Lord has declared that you worship none but Him, and that you be kind to the parents. If one or both of them attain old-age in your life, do not say to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them with words of honour. "(Surah Al-Isra 23-24)  

Rights towards children• "Do not kill your children

for fear of poverty.  We provide sustenance for you and for them.“

(Al-An'aam-1 51)

• "When news is brought to one of them, of the birth of a female, his face darkens and he is filled with inward grief."(An-Nahl-58)

Justice and Tolerance• Glad Tidings on showing

kindness to orphans

• Rights of Neighbours

• Rights of Slaves

• Killing anyone unjustly is forbidden

• Cheating is condemned in Islam

Marriage in Islam• “It is He who created you from a

single soul and therefrom made his mate, in order that he may dwell with her (in comfort)."

(Al-aa'raaf-189)• "And live with them (wives) in

kindness, for if you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allah has placed abundant good in it."

(An-Nissa-19)• "Men are the protectors and

maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more strength than the other and because they spend of their wealth (for the support of women).  So the righteous women are obedient and protect (the husbands interests) in his absence, as Allah has protected them.“

(An-Nissa-34)

Responsibility of the State

• Safeguarding Natural Resources

• Creating opportunities for employment

• Organizing individual efforts

• Utilizing the property of the wealthy when necessary

Brotherhood & Sisterhood• "Serve Allah and join not any

partners with Him; and do good to parents, kinsfolk (relatives), orphans those in need, the neighbour who is close (in relation), the neighbour who is a stranger, the companion by your side, the wayfarer and those whom your right hand possesses (slaves)..."

(An-Nisaa-36)• "The believers are but a single

Brotherhood.  So (make peace and) reconcile between your two (contending) brothers; And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.“

(Al-Hujuraat-10)

The Impact• Injustice, selfishness and untrustworthiness

prevails in disbelieving societies• Justice is one of the essentials for maintaining

social order•Women do not suffer in social life•Peace, security and high living standards prevail•Termination of moral degeneration and crime

rates•No Infidelity and Disloyalty in an Islamic Society•Balanced state of mind
