Executive Summary

A manager will be required to develop brand new tactics to provide excellent results to the team.

Spending money on draft picks can reshape the team with young new talent. Stronger minor leagues can produce players who know the basics of baseball. Adding an all-star can help by building around said player or players. King Felix Hernandez would be a great pitcher to bring competition to the Pirates’ other pitchers.

Keeping the old tradition the same is very important to the fans.

Product/Service Description The Pirates serve fresh food,

hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, French fries, subs, and other similar items. The suites will have some high qualities foods, streak, lobster, crab, and salad .

Merchandise will consist of, hats, jersey's, gloves, towels, flags, baseballs, the most basic items.

Revenue Sources and Pricing

Revenue Sharing in Major League Baseball is 400 million, much of this money is divided into 35 million giving to the smallest market teams, or struggling. The Pittsburgh Pirates are this type of team.

Prices at PNC Park on tickets are priced at 6 to 210 dollars in range. Much of the prices are very cheap if need be.

How they mash with target market. Winning is very hard, but with

new manager Clint Hurdle a new Pirates team will take off.

Keeping tradition is important since the team has be around since 1882. Becoming to much of a business might stop so fans from coming to games.

Having low prices helps bring in more fans and baseball watches alike to PNC Park.

Economic Data

Pittsburgh medium income of household is about $28,588 in the city. Medium income of a family is about $38,795, with a male’s income of $32,128 versus $25,500 for females. Per capita for the city income is $18,816 with about 15.0% of families and 20.4% of the population below the poverty line. Much of the population about 27.5% under the age of 18, and 13.5% of the age 65 are below poverty line. The population of the city of Pittsburgh is 309,602 since 2010. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) in the Pittsburgh area rose 1.2% of the second half of 2009 to the second half of 2010. Much of the indexes for all items less food and energy rose up to 0.6% food, 2.7%, and energy 3.6 %.

Reprising will not be an issue since prices are very low in PNC Park.

With low prices in many seats, food will be at a right price for consumers.

Target Market

Baseball fans in general, but more areas around and spread out. Most likely suburbs will be targeted since the some of the citizens live in the poverty or under the line. Low prices are included since the economic is still tight. A winning season will increase more people visiting PNC Park, and will increase profits.

Information to reach target mark

A media blitz will focus on sending out information over the 5 major informational outlets, TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, internet.

Even changing the organization's might not give much of a change unless the team is winning more.

Prices will remain low and unchanged for fans.

Promotions

Sunday home games are kids day, all kids 12 and under run the bases when game ends.

4 Tickets, which includes 4 soft drinks, 4 hot dogs or hamburgers with free gloves or other items 35 dollars.

Roberto Clemente will have a day to remember him by, with the Pirates having a week of remembering the great pirate’s player.

Brand mark, Trademark, and Slogan The brand mark of the

Pirates is the flag with a skull with a red bandana and two baseball bats crossed near the skull.

The Trademark would be the word pirate crossed in the front of the jersey in yellowiest gold color.

The new Slogan is: Since 1882 fans shouldn’t walk the plank, but sail across to find the treasured Fall Classic

Trade Character

The Pirates are one of the only teams in MLB to have two mascots.

First is Pirate Parrot debuted in 1979; he’s a large green parrot who wears the uniform of the team.

Second one is Captain Jolly Roger. He’s a cartoon version of a pirate who is dressed in a captain’s uniform.
