Today’s second reading continues from Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. Al-though he is still upset with the community for a variety of reasons, he sticks to the facts. The end of the reading reminds them, and us, “each may receive recompense, ac-cording to what he did good or evil.” When we think of our souls being judged by God after the end of our days on earth, we usually think of punishment for our sins. We often forget that God also takes into account all the good we do. Instead of worrying if every little thing is a sin, perhaps it would be better for our souls, and the world, if we sought out ways to do good things for others.

PRAYER FOR FAMILIES
God, Our Father, loving and merciful, bring together and keep all families in per-fect unity of love and mutual support. Instill in each member the spirit of under-standing and affection for each other. Keep quarrels and bitterness far from
them, and for their occasional failures instill forgiveness and peace. May the mu-tual love and affection of parents set a good example. Instill in children self-
respect that they may respect others and grow in mature independence. May the mutual affection and respect of families be a sign of Christian life here and here-
after, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen
