Archdiocese To Celebrate
Golden Wedding Anniversaries The annual Archdiocesan Golden Wedding
Anniversary celebration will be held at 3 p.m. on
Sunday, June 7, at St. Philip Neri Church. Couples
from parishes across the Archdiocese who are marking
their 50th anniversary this year are invited to participate.
So that certificates can be prepared and seating
arrangements made, our parishioners should register at
St. Edward for this event no later than Friday, March 6.
To sign up, stop by the Parish Center or call 888-0703.
World Marriage Day
St. Edward’s Marriage Enrichment Ministry will celebrate World Marriage Day at the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, February 9. We will recognize and honor:
♦The longest married couple ♦The newest married couple ♦Couples married 50+ years
Join us at Mass as we celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony. Couples who have been married for 50 years or more are asked to inform an usher of their presence at the beginning of Mass as we will have reserved seating for them.
Candlemas Day On Sunday, February 2, the Church celebrates the
Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. In the Gospel
reading for the day, Simeon called Jesus “a light for all
the nations”. As such, this feast has been long known as
Candlemas Day, a feast of lights. Blessed candles will
be available at all weekend Masses on February 1-2.
Who is King?
Very shortly, in our area, we will be inundated with
the call to “Let the good times roll!” Parades, King
Cakes, and all kinds of throws clamor loudly,
culminating on Mardi Gras Day. It is much like the
season of our lives, with the urge to “go, see and do
more!”, “get more stuff” that we think we need, and
even the lure of achieving the “joy and happiness” we
think others have. But sometimes we may find that we
are wearing a mask and underneath all that life throws
at us, we can feel very lonely, restless or unfulfilled. As
Mardi Gras season builds up, but soon will end, so too
will our lives on this earth.
A question for us to ponder and answer is, “Who is
King in our lives?” Who, or what rules our time? Even
better than the joy many find in this season of
celebration, we are invited to do more than search for
the baby in the King Cake. You and I are urged to “cut
into” the activities of our busy lives to find Jesus, who
dwells with us! In the quiet and stillness of the
Adoration Chapel, we can always find Him! Jesus
came not only to dwell in a humble stable, but He
dwells under the humble appearance of bread in the
Blessed Sacrament. You are invited to honor Jesus as
King with your praise and adoration. More valuable
than the glittery trinkets this world can give, He offers
real treasures of grace and peace. Take off your mask
and allow His gaze of the greatest love to fill your
restless heart.
The Adoration Chapel is open on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. We
are looking for additional committed adorers on
Fridays at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Please call Sheila
Butler at 889-0334.
Outdoor Way of the Cross Everyone is invited to our Outdoor Way of
the Cross on Saturday, February 29 at
11 a.m. on the church and school grounds.
Among all gathered, those wishing to
participate in carrying the full-size cross will
take turns between the stations with everyone stopping
to meditate briefly at each one, concluding with the
implanting of the cross in front of church.
Feast of St. Blase
The Feast of St. Blase is celebrated on
Monday, February 3. Blase was a bishop
martyred in the early 4th century and has
long been associated with healing of
ailments of the throat. We will have a
blessing of the throats at all weekend
Masses on February 1-2, as well as at the
7 am. and 6 p.m. Masses on Monday, February 3.

Sacred Heart Home Enthronement
Jesus promised that He would establish peace in
families and bless every home in which an image of His
Heart is exposed and honored. It requires no more
commitment than faithfulness to our Baptismal Promises,
but it deepens our relationship with Christ. If we sanctify
the family through the Sacred Heart, we will sanctify all
of society.
Promises of Jesus for souls devoted to His Sacred
Heart:
Second Promise: I will establish peace in their
families.
For more information on enthroning your home to the
Sacred Heart of Jesus, contact Yvette Fouchi at 874-9225.
SPIRITUAL ADOPTION
Developing Baby - MONTH ONE
Your spiritually adopted baby has been quite active over
the past month. Already your baby is 10,000 times bigger
than at conception. Your baby has developed the
foundations of his/her brain, spinal cord, and nervous
system by the 20th day. Her heart began to beat on the
21st day. Her heart is pumping blood through her own
circulatory system and the blood type can be different
from her mother’s. Your baby is most vulnerable during
the next month of being aborted. Pray that the Lord of
Life might move the heart of her mother to give her the
most precious gift of all - - the gift of life.
Come be blessed with the following spiritual and
corporal works of mercy! On Friday, February 7, St. Edward the Confessor
