Hello Fleet, I wanted to take this opportunity to convey myappreciation for the trust that Fleet Admiral Jackson, and the restof fleet has placed in me. I assure you, I will do my best to makesure that your trust is rewarded.
Back in 1992, four friends went to Indianapolis to see JimmyDoohan. On the way out, thE;!rewas an application for Starfleet

Of those 3 qtherpeople, Larry passed away aDd Greg left the group. The last, RADM Gqry Bartle, my former CO, is still active'i,ri Starfleet Command.
During my many'years in Fleet, I have served on, in myhumblehpirion, twogreat ships, the USS Defiant and the USS Endeavour. I was the' C,hielof Security. "" I ,.and First Officer on both. Along the way, I also served as the actipg Co. of theDefiant, Commanding Officer of StarbasJ 06, and as the Chief of Information
Technologies on the Admiralty Board. I started with the Endeav04r a~.§liMarine, but was asked to rnove to Security and then to Operations and lastly" to FirstOfficer. Get to know your Admiralty BoardWe ask Fleet Commander Jackson 4 random questions
How/where, did you find out about Starfleet Command?
I 'heard about Starfleet Command from Howard and Bonita
Robinson. At the premier of ST:X they had a recruiting table setup in the theater. I read the application and joined immediately.
What do you like most about Fandom?
The thing I like about fandom, besides the family feeling andhanging with like-minded people, is the fact that I have nevermet a single Star Trek fan who does not help his fellow manthrough charities, fund raisers or other means at their disposal.Other fan clubs might be into role playing or some kind of gameplaying, but Trek fans are the greatest because they take thephilosophy of Star Trek to heart and do more than live thefantasy.
What you consider your best quality you bring to SFC?Everyone is made up of numerous qualities; any of which cannotbe discounted without discounting the person. But if I had tochoose my best quality, I would have to say it is caring. Istrongly care about people, I strongly care about the club, and Istrongly care about the future of mankind.
What do you consider your favorite Trek series or character?
Before I state my favorite series, I must first qualify mystatement. My favorite series is not what I would necessarilythink is the best series. My favorite series is the original seriesbecause I grew up with it and it had the strongest impact on mylife. I think the best series was Next Gen because it used itsseven-year run to hit on many important topics that concernedsociety as a whole.

On 21, Nov. 2009 the P.O. Stephen Hawking has been commissioned. The crew complement consisted ofthree, Capt. Shelby T. Hobbs theCO, his father the FOIChiefEngineer and his mother the CMO. In thespring of2010, Capt. Hobbs was at the BrownsburgWal-Mart, when a young man named Nick Mannsasked to get a picture with Capt. Hobbs who was in aMonster Maroon Starfleet uniform with full
Vulcan makeup. After the picture was takenCapt. Hobbs told him about the Star Trek clubcalled Starfleet Command and gave him anapplication to join SFC. Now Nick is an Ens anda CRO. He has since recruited five new
members to the P.O. Stephen Hawkingby the end of2010, which makes acrew, complement of ninemembers.
On 15, Jan. 2011 the P.O.Hawking wascommissioned as a LightCruiserlNX class starshipD.S.S. Telek NCC-46112;
Stephen Hawking hassupported such charities ascollecting cell phones forSheltering Wings for them tohave turned into emergency 911 calling phones. The P.O. The D.S.S. Telek has
just released a new shipwide electronic
newsletter for the shipcrew only, and we call itthe "U.S.S. Telek e- -
Newsletter".The Star Times will only be published once a month, andcan be viewed from the website at www.usstelek.com/documents.html.
The D.S.S. Telek is a light cruiserlNX class starship and it has a newlogo. The new logo is based on the NX-02 Columbia patch, which wasaltered for the D.S.S. Telek, along with a few added extras.
The D.S.S. Telek has ship level awards that are separate from SFC.The reason the cre'Y received these awards was for their hard work in2010 which made the U.S.S. Telek 2010 Small Ship (Starbase) of theYear 1st place recipients, the 2010 Website of the Year 1st placerecipients, the 2010 Newsletter ofthe Year 2nd place recipients, andthe 2010 Recruiter ship of the Year 3rd place recipients. The D.S.S.Telek has a new website address, and that is www.usstelek.com.
The D.S.S. Telek is close friends with the U.S.S. Brightstar and theyhave an annual cookout.
Page 8The USS Gorkon
By: LTCDR Clara Trout Commanding
The USS Gorkon is a unique ship due to the fact that we have Klingonsserving on our ship. Many of our crew has duel memberships in bothStar Fleet Command (SF C) and International Klingon ExpeditionaryForces (IKEF). The USS Gorkon is based out ofIngalls, Indiana whichis a small town located between Pendleton & Fortville.
Captain Detamore co-hosts the weekly Lou Trek Show, an IPODradio show about different aspects of Star Trek. The show has featuredmany well-known stars from Star Trek. The Lou Trek Show and some
. of the crew went on the road to Trek Fest in Iowa City, IA. At the Festwe were all part of the Guinness Wodd Record attempt for the mostUniformed Star Trek Fans at a Star Trek event planned by the USSDavenport. Wernet many amazing people at the fest and have becomegood friends with them. We had an awesome time there and wouldrecommend it to others.
Over the past summer, our crew's mission was to find good deals onwinter coats. We collected all through the summer and fall and wereable to donate 36 winter coats to Bob Gregory's coats for Kids at theend of September. We had a lot of fun gathering these coats and knewthey would be going to good homes.
In October, Captain Detamore entered a Chili Cook-Off. He prepared a"Kling on Chili" and dressed in full Klingon regalia to serve the chili. He promoted the ship, Starfleet Command, IKEF and Star Base Indyby passing out information regarding the organizations and events. Healso placed 4th in the event, which was very competitive!
Shortly after the Chili Cook-Off, we began working on Star Base Indysecurity planning. LTCDR Robert Jackson, a Klingon, and member ofthe USS Gorkon were head of security at the 2010 Star Base Indy.Ninety percent of the security team was the crew of the Gorkon. Weheard very positive feedback from the two professional securitypersonnel (IKEF Klingon's) that came to assist with security from Ohioas well as LTCDR Robert Jackson, members of the Star Base IndyStaff and many attendees/vendors of the convention.
Page 9
Our crew also participated in the yearly Star Wars vs. Star TrekBowling event that our SB6 Commander Barclay hosts each year. StarTrek almost beat the Star Wars folks! The event also promoted the"Toys for Tots" campaign and the Crew of the Gorkon donated $60.00to this charity.
The Gorkon crew worked on the Borg Cube framing and "assimilating"cans of food for the event, which culminated at Star Base Indy 2010.Gleaner's Food bank ofIndiana received 904 cans of food from this
drive. We filled their barrels so full that they had to bring in specialequipment in order to lift the barrels into the truck! This event wasvery successful and I again issued this challenge to not only all theships in SB6 but also every ship in Star Fleet. I also have challengedall of the Klingon ships in IKEF to meet or beat the Gorkon in cannedgoods in this year's Food Drive Challenge. The Gorkon raised 622food items of the 904 last year. My goal this year is for our ship toexceed that amount and have at least 1,000 items from our ship alone.Look for further information regarding this event on the Listserv or theUSS Gorkon website located at www.ussgorkon.com.
