“I found it interesting becoming a Student Innovator as it helped me gain confidence through meeting with other students from college and also taking on board their opinions as well as my own. I took part in learning walk which meant that I observed a lesson taking on board what technology was used and what other things could be put into place to benefit the students. ”

Impact

Staff Comment“The Student Innovators give us really useful feedback on latest apps and technology. Their thoughts feed directly into our planning because they’re objective, honest and they represent a young person’s perspective. And we listen! For example, our tutors are already using the ‘Yammer’ app with their students, based on a recommendation from Liam. Being an Innovator is great for the students themselves, as it gives them an alternative outlet to explore and develop their skills. And it’s helpful for staff too. All round this is a brilliant initiative.”

Staff Comment

“I now find that learners are more positive and open about their spelling difficulties and able to address this important area that cuts across all subject areas, in a more adult way. It is also a useful tool for their future independence, as well as preparation for the world of work.”
