Things to do and see in the Sunshine State
Queensland offers some of Australia’s most diverse holiday experiences. in Queensland you can experience magnificent beaches, lush green rainforests, the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, tropical islands, exciting cities and the Outback. increasing numbers of international students are choosing Queensland as their study destination. people in Queensland have a wide variety of beliefs, philosophies and practices, and live harmoniously with personal freedoms and rights protected by law.
Queensland is Australia’s second-largest state in area, taking up almost one quarter of the entire continent. From a global perspective, Queensland is seven times larger than Great Britain and more than double the size of Texas. The spectacular coastline of Queensland stretches for more than 2000 kilometres, offering numerous tourist-friendly beach resort towns nestled amongst vast untouched reaches of pristine golden beaches.
Queensland’s sub-tropical climate means moderate year-round temperatures, sunny and mild winters and a short summer wet season from December to February.
experience Queensland lifestyle
WhitsundaysThe Whitsunday region – 74 tropical islands, safe and superb sailing waters, the Great Barrier Reef’s underwater gardens – is one of Australia’s most spectacular and diverse aquatic playgrounds.
Fraser islandWorld Heritage-listed Fraser island lies off the coast of Hervey Bay. The biggest sand island in the world features Australia’s purest breed of dingo and is the only place in the world where rainforest grows in sand.
Sunshine CoastWith its unspoilt and uncrowded coast and hinterland, the Sunshine Coast has long been a favourite holiday destination for Australians. The region’s natural attractions – beaches, mountains, rainforests, rivers and lakes – are pristine, offering a wide range of both leisurely and action-packed entertainment. Theme parks (such as Australia Zoo, made famous by Steve ‘the Crocodile Man’ irwin), tours, fishing, boating, restaurants/cafes and shopping are also highlights.

Other activities
Known as the Garden City, Toowoomba has many attractions for locals and tourists, including the Cobb & Co Museum, easterfest, Crows nest Falls, and Carnival of Flowers featuring a Flower, Food and Wine Festival.
Situated alongside the Great Sandy region, Fraser Coast has a lot to offer, including venturing across to Fraser island, the world’s largest sand island.
With the Springfield region rapidly growing, it is worthwhile checking out what is on offer, including the major shopping precinct, regional parklands, and a soon-to-be swimming lagoon which will be developed this summer.
While in Queensland, don’t forget to check out the $8.5 million education and training facility for the Queensland wine tourism industry located in Stanthorpe, which is just under two hours’ drive from Toowoomba.
if you’re thinking about going to events, festivals and expos, then check out the USQ events page to keep track of everything that is happening.
