Who is this bloke ?
• I’m Head of Geography at a school in Norfolk• I serve on the Geographical Association’s Secondary Committee, and have acted as a consultant with people such as the BBC, Teachers TV, The Guardian, Dorling Kindersley, BECTa etc.• I run the ‘GeographyPages website’, which some of you may be familiar with• I’ve been invited to speak at SAGT for the last 3 years – maybe some of you heard me before ?• I’ve just written my first book – I’ll sign your copy if you buy one next year.• The SAGT committee thought it might be nice for you to see what I presented at the Royal Geographical Society a couple of weeks ago.

First of all download Audacity to your machine…. It is FREE, and can be obtained from
http://audacity.sourceforge.net
Also download the LAME plugin, which you will need if you are goingTo export your files as mp3 or WAV files.

You will need a microphone.The one I use cost £3 from a leading supermarket chain….
Start up Audacity….
• Insert microphone into microphone slot and make sure it is the chosen input
• Press RECORD and speak
• A trace will appear which will be a visual record of your voice…
• Press STOP when finished
• Press PLAY to hear your recording.

Use the EFFECTS tab to change the pitch of your voice if
necessary…
Choose File, then export as WAV or mp3 formats…
WAV files can be added to powerpoint by choosing INSERT, MOVIES and SOUNDS, SOUND from FILE and navigating to the
file…
